I have today been refunded £58.50 by Satellite Direct - a bit late and no communication, but hey I got a result!
I have just experienced the same problem - £65 taken in March 2009(my monthly subscription x 10). I have spoken on the phone to them twice, after a lengthy wait, and been assured my money would be refunded - no such luck. I have sent two emails, both of which were acknowledged as being received, but they couldn't respond 'cos their system wasn't working - please write to them etc., etc., Which I did - no reply. After another abortive phone attempt I calculated that I had spent nearly £8 on phone calls.
I have contacted the Trading Standards Office and they have suggested I write again given Sat.Direct a time limit to respond. Well, I decided to go to my bank instead, who credited my bank account with £65 (direct debit guarantee) and who will try to reclaim the money back from Sat.Direct. (Unfortunately if they cannot get the money back from Sat.Direct they will require the £65 returned to the bank) In the meantime I have written to Sat.Direct cancelling my subscription and sent the letter by recorded delivery (As they have to sign for it they can't deny receiving it!). But, having read the terms and conditions, apparently you can't cancel your subscription until the end of the annual agreement and even then you have to do so in writing and at least 10 days in advance of the end of the agreement. My agreement ends in July 2009 - I shall be two payments in arrears by then - I wonder if they'll came after me for £13.

Basically if you are paying (as we were) £12.99, they took £129.99. We know of other customers paying £5 and they took £50!
No-one can get hold of them or their money back!
They simply put all calls on a loop and when you email them it says there emails are not working and to call them - which they don't answer.
So do not use this company and if you are already using them check your recent DD! And then cancel your subscription!
