My clutch was replaced by Autofit. After a period of approx three weeks of problems
including a breakdown, I decided to take the car to another garage in the area for a second opinion and to be made roadworthy.
The car was duly repaired to the tune of £482.00 and was advised that the job was such a mess, Autofit should not be allowed to get away with it.
I approached the owner of Autofit, Mr Graham, for a refund of the money that I had to pay the second garage (D. Melling & Sons Ltd Leyland PR5 3PN)to get the car roadworthy.
He agreed only to refund the money I had paid to Autofit for the repair. I met Mr Graham, and agreed to accept his offer of £280.00 for the original charge (as per quote)
even though I had to pay another £35.25 to Autofit to get the car roadworthy before I took the car elsewhere (D Melling). I was not really happy with the offer but had decided to accept just to draw a line under the whole matter. I started to say 'the reason I had not gone to trading standards'....that was as far as I got, Mr Graham withdrew his offer and asked me to get off his premises. To finish what I was about to say was 'that I wanted to give them the 'benefit of the doubt' and it was just one job that went wrong it was not really about the money'.
Mr Graham please refund me as agreed in the first instance.

Fitted 2 tyres to my car . £100 each tyre.
One of the tyres deflated 3 times within those 3 weeks.
Took car back - They removed alloy wheel and tested wheel to rim area . Found to be leaking air.
Fitter said ' it may be because of wheel paint on inside of rim .
He said he cleaned the rim and refitted tyre . I asked why he didnt clean the rim before fitting a new £100 tyre --he said ' we just fit the tyres mate'.
I was astonished .
More astonished when he presented a bill for £15 . THIS was only 3 weeks after fitting a brand new tyre .
The bill showed it as a puncture - which it was not .
I had a few words with the person who wrote the invoice - and he said ' we have to do what the boss tells us .
My next course of action is trading standards .
While work was going on- I was chatting to invoice writing guy and asking how work was at moment -for them. He said 'very quiet '.
Says it all.
I informed him -after receiving the invoice that I would not be using them again for any of my vehicles (3) he said ' thats your choice .
Attitude of the workers was 'couldnt care less'.
I shouldn't have paid - but- they had my keys and the boss had vanished .
So- to anyone who's thinking of using them- if you have tyres fitted and they leak due to couldnt care less fitters - be prepared for a visit back to their place and a further bill.
