i have recently been contacted by jbdr who informed me that they had bought a debt from another company. i informed them that i was willing to continue the agreement that i had with the previous company and asked them for the details of the debt, i.e. ref number, address etc, in writing.
they then continued to call me at least twice daily for the next 4 months, getting more and more irate and threatening court action. i informed them that they still had not sent me any information either by post or by e-mail and would not pay them until i had these details.
in-between times i was called by the previous debt company asking why my repayment agreement had not been paid for months, i told them about the conversation i had with jbdr and was told that the debt had not been sold at all. i agreed to pay the company the outstanding months that i owed and have had no more problems from them.
this is where jbdr got more aggressive and starting asking for the whole outstanding debt of over £1000 or face court. i told them to take me to court as i had over 12 months worth of evidence to state that the debt had been paid.
i also informed them that if they continued to call me that i would pursue legal action for harassment and that both glasgow and liverpool trading standards had been informed. they went very quiet then, apologised in writing and have not contacted me since.
don’t pay this company unless you have the details in writing, don’t give them any information over the phone, and when calling withhold your numbers. they will soon go away.
