I understand the Law Society from both a 'client perspective' and from a 'lawyer's' perspective'.

I received bad client care from shockingly bad solicitors (Personal Injury - Mooneerams) despite being recommended them, and viewing (now knowingly false testimonials since they come from the partner's mother, secretary etc). My friend in the trade told me about them.

My cousin is a paralegal and cannot get any support from the Law Society. She does the same work as a solicitor and yet the Law Society does not care for her profession.

She is a really good paralegal and yet there are some terrible ones who know nothing about the law.

However, the Law Society does not protect those paralegals who know about the law from those paralegals who nothing about the law. They could be just the partner's wife or daughter! Clients' files are not being well looked after!

She also has friends as solicitors who have been bullied by the partners within the firm and have to care more about meeting what they call 'targets', i.e. how much money they can bring into the firm. These people care more about themselves than the clients' welfare and yet the Law Society do nothing about it!

Poor service from the Law Society who do not protect the clients nor the legal profession!

The Law Society is useless in comparison to the Medical Profession who have several governing bodies and also advisors for their medical members.

The Law Society is neither self governing (because it does not govern at all) and so negligent solicitors get away with bad client care, and yet good solicitors who are being bullied by their bosses/the partners do not get any support from the Law Society at all.
