Comments:

I purchased a Fortec Star 4700 satellite receiver from CPC in December. The main selling feature is that you can simply insert a hard drive via a USB into the front panel and then pause and record live TV. I tried this and it didn't work. Tried alternative devices and again the USB/record menu would not spring into life. CPC asked me to try a couple of things, neither of which worked so they put me on to Jonathan at Fortec Star themselves. I spoke to Jonathan who said he would look into it and then phone me back the next day. He didn't. CPC tried to phone him but he never returned their calls. In frustration CPC gave me his mobile number but again he wouldn't respond to the messages left. I got an email address for the technical department from their website and wrote an e mail explaining the equipment I had and the problem. They emailed me back and asked me to try various things including "use the USB port on the rear of the unit" (It doesn't have one), "press the USB button on the remote (It doesn't have one" etc. I replied to their e mail but heard nothing, sent another email - no reponse. In frustration after 6 weeks of poor service I e mailed them and said that unless they resolved the problem within 7 days I would send the unit back to CPC and leave negative feedback on every forum I could. I then got an e mail from Jonathon telling me to send it back and threatening me with legal action re the forums. So much for customer service. Jonathan then e mailed me again and asked what the problem was (!) and said he would look into it and get back to me. Guess what 2 weeks later and still no reply. So heres my feedback- a product that I cannot get to work and a service department who do not seem to even know the features of the products they manufacture and who provide poor service when a customer experiences difficulties.
