Grant Management are awful. Some friends and I rented a property from them for a year. They appear to have some of the nicest houses that you could possibly rent and this is reflected in the amounts that they charge. However, we figured we wouldnt mind paying more money for something that was worthwhile.
Our whole experience with the company was awful. Their sales agents lied to us about what we could and couldnt do with the property as well as telling us that we had access to parking spaces at the rear of the house - and once we had moved in and asked them to clear it up - they refused saying it belonged to the council - who told us that it belonged to them. Our neighbours were annoyed with them because they NEVER returned any of their calls about the state of the property and broken fences etc.
When we moved into the property - it was not clean nor was it in good condition. The walls had scuffs all over. In fact one of the past tenants strolled into the property with his key! He came to collect his stuff and I am glad one of us was in because who knows what would have happened to all our stuff.
During the tenancy we had to call them to fix a few of our issues. Sometimes they would promptly send someone out - but int he case of our washing machine, it took more than 6 weeks to replace. As we were paying for a furnished property - I complained and demanded compensation because we all had to go to the dry cleaners - at our own expense. I have only just received this money from them, after they agreed to pay it (7 months ago!) and after me chasing them every week with an email. No one every seems to know what is going on and they don't care.
I am still trying to get an overpaid rent payment back from them, and after providing evidence including their online payment references - they will not pay. Their staff member I have dealt with is rude, and abrasive and will not help in anyway, nor does she seem like she wants to.
I urge anyone considering moving in with them to at least view this website to gain an impression about this bunch. They were feature in the student unions newspaper at UWE in Bristol on several occasions because of their awful manner http://christopherhamilton.co.uk/2008/10/grant-management-landlords-to-avoid/.
