I have the misfortune of owning a Renault Scenic which refused to let me disable to immobiliser once I was in my car no matter what I tried. I was told that it would be just under £200 to replace the fob and the sensor inside the car which I wasn't happy about but couldn't get around.
When I went to pick my car up, I was told they had run a diagnostic check on it (which I hadn't asked for) and there was an oil leak, it needed a new fan belt and a solanoid needed replacing or it wouldn't pass it's MOT. I said that it had only had an MOT the week before and drove off.
Fast forward to this week when I took it in for an MOT and though it didn't get through, NOT ONE of those faults was mentioned on the report.
It's garages like this one that get them all a bad name.
Avoid like the plague!
