few months ago i had call from BT customer street about the inclusion into their BT directory and to create a website. After a lengthy phonecall from a person who was going on and on about how good bt is and how they lookafter their customer, how they are and that;s why they have got customers worldwide and so on. He also said to me that, my lisitng will appear on the first page on the top in google search. At the end of the phone call my ears nearly fell off, this person also showed me the websites that BT have created one of them being Tony & Guy the hairdresser and other of some builder in London. He also showed me how many time plumber is being searched on the net in google keywords. He asked me various questions about the areas, and things like my qualifications etc. for the website and the areas i like to cover, so i told him everything. Then few days later he called me again, i then agreed and paid £376, he also said to me that i am working so hard that BT will give me two websites, one for free. After few days he rang me up to say that the website is ready and is looking very good. When i looked at the site it was not what he told me, the contents were deceiving to the public, and the site was not what i had expected. I then sent an e-mail which i was then told that the site has been created within BT limitations, however some changes were made, but not to what i wanted them to be. In the end i gave up as i was not getting anywhere, and i was told that i can make changes myself, but i did not receive the password or the instructions for sometime. Few days later i found out that BT has one template for all the sites they make. As i found out that the same template has been used for another plumber in Cardiff (south wales). I did not receive any paperwork, nor i received any invoice for the payment that i made to them, i never received any contract, i do not know what are their terns & conditions, etc. In the end i wrote to BT asking for eberything to be cancelled, but they did not. However, about couple of months later i received an invoice for further payments for the two websites that i have. But prior to this i had alreayd made a complaint, to cancel everything. I was furious that i have received a bill for two websites, despite the fact that i never asked for two, they gave me the other for free. None of the sites are what i was expecting, the keywords used in these sites are the least searched, and the whole thing is an absolute shambles. Now that my case is in dispute every tuesday i get an e-mail stating that they have not heard anything as yet, as they are still waiting to hear the original phonecall, as BT records every phone call made by their representative. I was also told that if i drop the complaint they will reduec the monthly charge, but i am adamant to cancel the whole thing. As i am a sole trader (plumber) i have about 6 months ago started my own i cannot afford all these payments. I would advice everyone to keep away from BT, do not get involved. I am not the only one, everone i speak to about customer street have share the same thought.
