I was deployed to iraq and left my wife and 2 childern behind . while i was away she had a puncture on our ford galaxy, she took it to our local kwic fit center who told her the tyre was irrapairable and that she needed a new tyre, they then told her that all the other tyres were near the limit and that they needed changing (i had changed 4 tyres 9 months earlier and only covered 7k miles on them)she agreed and they told her she needed 4 continental tyres because thats what ford say to use at a cost of £680, the car is 10 years old and these tyres were not needed seeing as i had economy ones on before , she reluctantly agreed (not knowing anything about tyres)and they were fitted.
Two days later the tyre on the original punctured wheel went down again so she took it back, they broke her locking key removing the wheel and then told her after 3 hours of her waiting that it was because the wheels needed referbishing and that she would need to get it done(so why didnt they say that when they were doing the tyres), she took it to a garage they recomended who referbish wheels who told her in his words "they dont have a clue what they are doing down there" and told her also that the rims were fine. they directed her to another local tyre shop to check it out and they found that the metal valve was leaking after 10 mins of looking and they told her that it would have been leaking for a while due to corosion around the seal . she told them what kwic fit had done and they said that it would only have been the valve in the first place and would have been picked up strait away if properly cheacked , so she got 4 new tyres , a load of waiting and messing around £600 odd quid lighter for the price of a £4 valve . she confronted the depot who said the tyre had a nail in the shoulder but funny the tyre had been desposed of. i have contacted trading standards but they say they are innundated with similar claims from this unprofessional company . my advise is to steer clear of these unprofessional, inexperianced fools.
