In response to mattj86 (not sure who you are, despite your claim of our friendly conversations - assume you were an employee that carried out my work?) Firstly, my apologies for not responding sooner. As I explained to your employer (?) I was upset because the damage caused to my property was "repaired" (free of charge - well, you did it) without my even being aware any damage had been done. Three people were working on my 2 doors that day and not one of them had the courtesy to inform me of any damage. I fully accept that these older properties may present a problem like this, but as I said, surely one of you could have at least told me? I had to find out long after you had gone. I would also like to add that a deposit was offered and refused by the company and had the lads returned when they were supposed to, they would have been paid in full. They did NOT return to complete the job because of any damp weather conditions - they returned to complete the job by torchlight after I had contacted the owner of the company to ask why, having promised to return earlier, they simply didn't show up. The poor lad that was ordered to return by his boss to complete the job was not at all happy that his colleage had failed in his duties. The £30 discount I received was most certainly not given gracefully either - in fact the owner of the company was far from graceful - when I had the audacity to voice my concerns, his response was, and I quote "well, you win some, you lose some" My reply to that was that Moorview were extremely lucky, in this present economic climate, to be able to adopt that attitude. Oh yes, thanks - I'll choose my windows carefully.....!
For quite a while I had been thinking about the time that I will eventually change the terrible UPVC windows and wood doors on my house.
When I had the kitchen and bathroom windows fitted I had them supplied Moorview, though fitted by my builder as they were not direct replacements. I always prefer dealing with local companies where possible as usually you can cut out the silly inflated prices which then become 70% reduced if you sign today pressure. So I decided to contact Moorview to quote for supplying and fitting 3 new doors and 6 new windows (including 1 bay).
I also asked a friend to quote, who’s work I already know is second to none. The quotes were competitive leaving me confused. Further research was needed. Being a perfectionist I quizzed both companies on what profile uPVC they use, the locking mechanisms and various other technicalities. My friend used ‘duraflex’ (a good product though more of an entry system to the market) and Moorview use ‘profile 22’ (which is far superior from my reading). So now I was in a tough spot – do I opt for a very highly recommended friend who's finish I know will be great, or a company who supply a better product (which is also energy efficiency rating “B” as opposed to the necessary “C” grade). The decision wasn’t easy as naturally I did not want to upset my friend, though based upon the excellent customer service, attention to detail and in depth responses to my demanding questions I took a plunge for Moorview.
The result was a pay off. I am most happy with the quality and fitment of the new doors and windows. They have listened to every single request. They even corrected the installation of the panes of glass that I purchased from them previously (the glass was facing the wrong way round – though that’s my fault from when me and my builder fitted them!).
Whilst the windows are simply upvc windows and hold anything far from charismatic to discuss, I am so pleased with my doors! I opted for a black composite front door. I liked the door in the catalogue though I wasn’t sure how good it would look once fitted…I have no regrets, it looks amazing. It gives the house an edge of refinement and let’s loads more light and life into the hallway. I also opted for a new back door with a cat flap.
My best mate (a plasterer and a perfectionist himself who initially recommended my friend to do the work) came to inspect Moorviews’ work and could not fault them. My leap of faith seems to have paid off. A great product and fitted very well. It goes to show how just how vital good customer service is. This company won my custom as they gave me great information regardless of my requests. Sarah, who dealt with my every request must have earned her wages in typing emails alone (and no doubt is sick of me!). Some may think it’s being overly picky, or perhaps it’s part of our culture to accept what others say on face value / never question what we’re being sold. However I can’t afford to make big mistakes by letting some large company fit a poor product, take my money only never to be seen again whilst they ride into the sunset. I had to research what I was getting for my money and check who is going to be fitting it. Equally I’m confident should I spot any problems in the near future that Moorview will be there to help. You don’t get that with your “buy one, ya get one free Viking”
I won't hesitate to use Moorview in the future, and I'm already saving up some money to buy one more door (between my garage and kitchen). I have recommended them to two colleagues at work already. So a massive thumbs up from me…though I see this site only has 1 option for positive feedback, yet plenty for negative. Perhaps that’s the sad sign of the culture we live in – look for the badness. If anyone has any doubts to my review and high expectations, you’re welcome to view my dedicated blog to house renovations and see some pics. Drop me a message for more details :)
I recently had windows and doors fitted and to be honest I thought they were fantastic. The lads were very friendly people, and did a abosolute wonderful job. I would recommend them to all my friends and family. I find it very hard as a satisfied customer that anyone would moan about anything they do. I was told about this company from friends who had work done, and everyone was happy.
The comments left by carole57 are very dissaponting. I have had many very friendly conversations with her and feel her comments are very misleading. We supplied and fitted 2 bespoke doors at an extremely competative price after we were reccomended. The doors were fitted to a stone built terraced house that had been rendered some years previously, that render was against aging wooden doors and had cracked with the frost. When one of the doors was removed a small patch of render beside the frame which was already loose fell off (aprox 7cm x 40cm) The fitter put a fresh coat of render on but as it was a cold damp day he left it to dry intending to come back a couple of hours later to give it a final smooth finish. The fitter came back that evening to give the render a final smooth. Yes he was there until 7.30 but that was due to the damp weather conditions. When we went to collect payment (no deposit was paid) we were aware of her dissatisfaction and so agreed to deduct £30 off the bill as a goodwill gesture. We can not be held responsible for the condition of the rest of the house. We have repaired the render FOC and deducted £30 from the bill, and still the customer is unhappy and posts poor scores. Nothing is mentioned of the high quality doors and excellent service she received. Good luck to the company who replaces the windows!!
My first experience of having new doors fitted. Have to say the doors themselves are fine, but experience with their workmen was not. Job started at 8.45am and finished at 7.30pm (by torch light) on a Saturday night. Was not informed of damage to my front doorway until much later when a "cement job" was noticed. After company owner notified of dissatisfaction, couldn't seem to understand my upset and was outraged at my suggestion of a £30 discount!!! Unbelievable - would have got the following job for replacement windows, but not a cat in hells chance, after my experience. Seemed to believe that damage to my property was "inevitable" and couldn't understand why I was upset that his staff couldn't be bothered to inform me of this. Couldn't possibly recommend, after my awful experience.
