According to reliable and reputable fireplace companies around Portsmouth, Andy O'Connell who was a director of Keltil Sweeps has over the last 3 years taken deposits from customers and then disappeared having either completed partial installations or has failed to provide any of the equipment he was contracted to provide. He took full payment from me for fireplaces he never provided. I have been informed that his company will be struck off from Companies House. There are many other people who have had similar experiences. The office of fair trading is compiling a case against him. If you have had a similar experience then please contact your local trading standards office with as much detailed information as possible.

I also had my woodburner installed by Andy last year and never recieved a HETAS certificate. He is now no longer part of the HETAS scheme which is a good thing but not good for me and the many others that have a woodburner in their house that is not registered. Really sad that he did not register my woodburner as the certificates from HETAS only cost approx £4.

The log burner that Keltil installed did not work properly so Keltil told me that I had to have work done on the chimney breast. I did this and had to pay extra to have this work done. Keltil disconnected the log burner so that I could have this work done and when i tried to contact Keltil to get it reconnected the phones were all dead and nobody is answering e mails. I now have a log burner that has cost me £2000 sitting in the conservatory . I have no receipt or safety certificate.

We paid a deposit in October to Keltil to install two stoves. Keltil turned up in December and installed one stove, but has not provided us with a HETAS certificate. Keltil has not installed the second stove. Keltil on balance owes us hundreds of pounds. Keltil home and mobile phone numbers have been disconnected. Keltil has not responded to any emails or letters.
