Our dealings with Alan Joy have been truly dreadful and I am leaving this final feedback about this company as a warning to other customers thinking about using Alan Joy.
We have not been treated as valued customer at any point during our dispute with Alan Joy and have been expected to pay for faulty windows and doors. We refused to pay the balance until the work had been satisfactorily completed and the faults rectified. Without completing the work and having failed to turn up at agreed times and without the correct windows Alan Joy then sent us threatening solicitors letters based on mistruths from Alan Joy. At one point Alan Joy arrived to replace the faults with windows that had exactly the same faults as the original sub-standard windows.
Most worryingly we were told via Alan Joy solicitors that we were to remove our posting on Blagger immediately.
When the windows were finally rectified (to Alan Joy's standards - not ours) we paid our account withholding a small amount for the front door that was left damaged and faulty. Alan Joy having initially agreed to replace the front door then refused, after much negotiation they then agreed. The door they replaced had more faults than the original door; Alan Joy refused to provide a perfect door and sent more letters threatening to send in debt collectors if we didn't agree to accept repairs to the faulty door.
We have been forced to accept this given that the situation has gone on since March 2011; in essence we have had to pay Alan Joy for poor windows that were not up to the standard promised to us by this company. We have had to accept a faulty front door with repairs and Alan Joy has threatened us that unless we accept faulty goods they will unleash debt collectors on us. They have told a pack of lies to their solicitors and what they have said to us on the phone or in person does not match what they tell them.
I can only warn anyone thinking of using this company to be very careful and to learn from our experience. It has been stressful, distressing, unfair and devious. Not a company I would ever do business with again nor would I recommend them to anyone else unless you are happy with such poor quality work and very high stress over a bit of double-glazing.
Our saga with Alan Joy windows continues, every single window and the front door fitted by Alan Joy has been faulty.
It was arranged for them to rectify the problems weeks ago but when they arrived to fit them the replacements were exactly the same as the originals - faulty.
Nothing has been resolved with Alan Joy, I can only advise anyone looking to use this company to learn from my experience.
This is a really bad company who fit faulty windows and do not rectify the problems - use at your peril as my experience would suggest that you would not get what you pay for and will be left with sub-standard windows. Appalling dreadful company, poor standards and very poor quality windows.
We used Alan Joy to replace the windows in our 4 bedroom detached house. We chose Alan Joy because neighbours opposite had used them a few years ago, not only did their windows look really nice but they also appeared to be top quality.
We had a number of quotes prior to choosing Alan Joy but made our decision based on the work we had seen and on negotiating a good price. We also wanted to use a local firm for the work. We did get quite a few phone calls and emails soliciting for the work from Alan Joy but just put this down to the financial climate.
What we didn't realise when we were negotiating on the price was the fact that as Alan Joy agreed to price reductions they were also reducing the quality and appearance of the windows. For example to quality of the frosted glass and more particularly the quality of the glass in the front door was very basic with no real choice of design, we decided that this would just about be acceptable in overall scheme of things.
We had Georgian Bars fitted, our original windows had a curve in them but Alan Joy did not do this, once again we accepted this, hindsight now shows that these were a couple of warning signs that we should have heeded.
Initially things went well with a speedy and clean fitting service, however, once fitted there have been significant problems with the windows and the level of service offered by Alan Joy has, so far, been awful.
We had Georgian Bars put in the windows at the front of the house, not one of the bars match in height making the whole appearance of the windows look shoddy. There are three windows across all the main windows, none of these match in height which makes the windows look cheap. There is some slight damage to the front door as well.
The real problems have happened once these issues have come to light and we are trying to negotiate with Alan Joy, the attitude has been appalling and arrogant to say the least, when we said we would have to take the matter further we were told 'Good luck with that' and that seems to encompass the attitude toward the customer. I have asked repeatedly for things to be put officially in writing and to deal with a member of staff at a higher level within the company, this has been ignored or rejected.
Alan Joy knew that we wanted quality windows and that we liked the fit of the windows in the house opposite. What they have done is not only to provide windows that are unacceptable with Georgian Bars all at different heights but they have also fitted windows that do not match in height giving an overall appearance of being cheap. Alan Joy have agreed to replace the glass so that the bars do at least match but have refused to do anything about the height of the windows.
Of course, the cost of replacement windows is not cheap and we will not be able to replace them again in a hurry so it looks very much as if we are left with windows that we are very unhappy with and a service that has been nothing like the service promised.
We simply cannot recommend Alan Joy windows and can only suggest that if you are thinking of using them be very, very careful and make sure you get a very detailed spec before going ahead. We have no way of knowing about the actual quality of the windows but our fear is that they are not of the same quality that other firms would have provided.
We do know that if you have a problem with Alan Joy you will not be treated a a valued customer, if our experience is anything to go by you will be treated with contempt, arrogance and rudeness. All we can say is that Alan Joy do not appear to care about their customers once they have secured that sale.
Should have gone to Safestyle!... a very expensive lesson learned
