I visited AG Motors and spoke to the friendly salesman Peter, I p/x'd my Audi for a Ford S Max, everything went smoothly and he agreed to sort out 3 dents, a scuff, fill in stone chips on the hood and 'touch up' one of the alloys. I came back a week later to collect my car and what do I see? A paint job on the scuff so bad that someone with little knowledge of cars (me!) could see how poor it was, they even left paint on the bumper, the hood had not been touched nor had the alloy, even though we had agreed that it would be sorted. I then took the car for another test drive and it felt jerky, so their "expert" drove the car and said that it was because there was no fuel in the car (computer said 2 mile range). Peter very kindly put £5 worth of fuel in the car(I had left 1/4 tank in my Audi for him). When I questioned the jobs he said that he agreed that it was poor and told me to leave the car and he would try to sort it (I live in Birmingham 100 miles away), I asked him to try to sort something out for me and he said "I cant do anything, but please dont think badly of me and recommend me to your friends" followed by a box of Thorntons... I simply said "Maybe you need to focus on sticking to your word as opposed to giving chocolates." Annoyed I left, came home and as I reversed the car into my drive noticed that parking sensors were not working!! Great I thought, called up Peter and he said "Bring it up and we'll sort it", I said "I live 100 miles away what happens if you cant sort this out on the day", reply? You guessed it "I cant do anything, but please dont think badly of me." I then continued to call, emailing him the damage to the car and asking could he be reasonable? I was then told "Peter is busy" for THREE days before I finally lost my rag and gave the secretary "a piece of my mind." Have now taken the car to Ford costing me £47 for a diagnostic and a further £132 to repair a faulty sensor, I will be contacting AG Motors and asking for them to pay for some of this, will they? I doubt it. Finally my advice car salesmen are wonderful when they are selling you a car, but when things go wrong that is when you find out how good they are, my advice avoid AG Motors at all costs, cars are decent but pray (and I mean really pray) that nothing goes wrong because IF it does then expect nothing from Del Boy AKA Peter (Head Salesman)

I have had serious dealings with this company. The only way you get anything done, is by going legal. The company has numerous CCJ's that are all settled quickly. This is down too customers taking the company to court for deposit refunds as they have not managed to get them back any other way.
The owner Andrew Greenwood does not answer the phone often and when he does he either lies or hurls abuse at you.
His company ethos seems to be sell now and argue later. My car was bought by me on the condition it was serviced and MOT'd and Pre delivery inspected. On the day of collection the Oil was filthy as was the Oil Filter, Two tyres were illegal (one had cord showing on the inside) and the car had not been MOT'd because it had 4 months on already. (Hence me asking for it to be done in the first place).
I have spoken to trading standards and this is not a company that they would use.

*** Car buyers beware of this garage - this comment has been posted once before (read below) ***

I had the misfortune of purchasing a vehicle from this garage and have had nothing but trouble with the car and the garage since day 1. Within hours of picking up the vehicle the head gasket on the car had blown so I immediately took it back to the garage. Initially I was going to ask for a full refund of all monies paid but seeing how I knew the owner, I decided to give the garage a chance and let them repair it out of good faith.

A week later I picked the car up and within a matter of hours I was experiencing problems with the car yet again. I immediately alerted the finance company of my wish to rescind the contract and 2 independent engineers (one from the finance company) both said the car was not at all road-worthy and should never have been sold to me.

After 4 weeks of dispute I had enough with the garage/situation and I posted a similar comment to what I’m writing now on this site. A few days later I was contacted by the owner of the garage (who had seen this comment) and said that if I was to remove the comment on this site then he'd have no problems issuing a full refund. I agreed to this 'blackmail' as I thought it would be a quick exit to the whole situation. I immediately removed the comment and held up my side of the bargain. Guess what? No refund, no exchange, nothing. So here I am reposting this comment.

The garage offered me an exchange (prior to contacting me about the comment) and I was told that before I could have either an exchange or a refund, the garage needed to do their own report on the car to see exactly what was wrong with the car. Worried about this, I contacted the finance company who then contacted the garage and gave the garage strict instructions that no work was to be carried out on the car as I still wished to terminate the contract. A few days later I receive a phone call from the garage telling me the car had been repaired and the vehicle would be ready to collect in a few days. Not only did the garage carry out the repairs while under strict instructions not to, they didn’t have my permission to carry out any repairs on the car for me as they were well aware that I was seeking a full refund, so why would I want a car that I don’t want repairing for me?

When they contacted me to ask me when I was picking up the car, I told them again that I didn't want the car and I was still seeking a full refund. The garage didn't take any notice of this and took it upon themselves to deliver the car to my house address and leave it dumped on my driveway, blocking in another car. I was actually fuming by the action the garage had taken. They didn’t ring me to alert that these were there plans, nor did they knock on my door when they delivered the car. They literally just dumped it on my driveway.

I have been without a car now for 5 weeks and this has having a detrimental effect on my career.

If you are planning on purchasing a vehicle from this garage, I advise you to proceed with absolute caution and to take your time and to not give into their pressure selling.
