I'm not sure whether the section on Smith Hatton's website entitled, "How To: Avoid the cowboy builder" is supposed to be ironic. It certainly implies that the company is not likely to rip you off which I find very unlikely given the track record of the company so far, trading under other names.
The company is owned by Konrad Beeson who, just like the description on the website, appears "confident and friendly". A brief look through his records on the companies house website shows that he has been trading as a building company from the same address but under a number of names over the last few years.
There are already entries on Blagger for him and the previous company "Brickcraft Home Extensions".
The basic formula for the company has been to gain work, do it cheap, run up debts, close the business and start again under a new name. This has resulted in building work which is shoddy at best and tradesmen who are out of pocket.
