Wharfedale Furniture in Ilkley. This company is terrible, My husband and I were looking to get some new wardrobes and went into a shop we have driven past for years, we spoke to what seemed like a really nice old man and he got one of his staff to come and measure up for the wardrobes. Anyway within a week I have a quote for £2800 for 3 metres of wardrobe and we decided to go ahead. We agreed on a fitting date and no one turned up. So by the afternoon I called them, they said it was the following week which it was not as I had written in the agreed date in my diary. Anyway the following week came and again no one turned up, I rang again and asked what was going on. I was told that they were held up on a nother job and would have to start the day after. So this would be the third day I have had off work because of this company. Anyway the next day two young lads turned up one stinking of smoke and the other of alcohol and one of the boys said "wheres it going love?" So I showed them to the bedroom and they had walked dust and god knows what else all over my new carpets, I asked if they would clean up after themselves and they said yes but come 4.30pm when they were ready to leave after drinking most of my milk in their tea, they hadn't cleaned anything, I spoke to the older one of the two about it and he said, "we'll do it tomorrow love." I asked what time they would be back the next day and the older boy said "about 9ish" which seemed ok as I had to take the children to the childminder for 8am.
After they left I peeked my head round the corner to see the start of my lovely new wardrobes, only problem was they weren't lovely, they weren't even there. They had fixed batons across two of the walls and one of the walls was wrong, they had fixed batons to it when I was having nothing done on that wall so couldn't understand it. I rang Wharfedale Furniture and asked why this had happened? The old man from the shop said they must have mixed up the drawings from the last house and my house. I told him this was not professional or acceptable Anyway the next day came and they arrived at quarter to 12 even though he said "9ish" he said he was late as he had messed up on the last job, I told him he had messed up on my job and showed him. He said he would have to go back to the office to get the right plans. They left and came back and 3.45pm and said he couldn't find the plans for our house.
So I said I have what was sent to me here with all the specifications written on it. I showed it to him and he said "right were going to have to come back next week love because we haven't even got that colour board in stock." So I said "ok how long will it take to get the board in stock and then when will the whole job be completed?"
He said "well to get everything ready and come back here your looking at around 3 weeks till its finished and thats with me an him doing 4 full days on it" I told him to wait while I rung the showroom/office. I rang and went through everything that had just been said and the old man in the office started shouting at me saying well do you want it or don't you want it? So I said "because of what was meant to take 3 days to be fitted is now taking 5 weeks in total if it is done on time because someone in your office cannot file paperwork then yes I want to cancel it." I thought my husband would be mad but he said I did the right thing, It took one month to get a refund from the day I cancelled as they said they did not have the money in the bank. I cannot belive what bad service Wharfedale Bedrooms has given me. The only upside is they eventually gave me my refund.
We have now got our wardrobes from Ikea and built them ourselves, fair enough they don't look as good as fitted wardrobes but this way I have had no more hassle from Wharfedale Bedrooms.
