Took my seven year old Grand Vitara to kwikfit today for a check on the exhaust, I was told that there was rust on the rear box and that the whole system would need to be replaced because it only comes as a whole unit and can only be obtain from Suzuki, at a cost of £700-£800. Did some research when I got home and found out that the whole system doesn't need replacing and that like more exhaust systems sections can be replaced. Am now looking a bill under £200.

My son ,who is doing a mechanics course, took his car to Kwikfit for its MOT. Two days previously he had check his car throughout with his garage instructor with no problems other than a headlight fault.
On the ramp two faults suddenly appeared a split drive shaft gaiter and roll bar mount. The gaiter was described as perished but in fact had a knife cut and the roll bar mounting had been forced off.

Son took vehicle away and spoke to his instructor who was very angry at the attempt to create work.

The gaiter and roll bar mount were obtained through the trade and fitted by my son in two hours for the cost of £11.00 approx.

How often do Kwikfit fitters create work for unsuspecting customers. Watchdog has looked at them once maybe it is time they looked at them again. It could be construed that the fitters are on a percentage bonus for all work going through the MOT system in excess for the basic charge.
