This company should be exposed as a rogue trader. Trading Standards have been unsuccessfully trying to have them fulfil their contract with us.
Had backdoor fitted in April 2010 and although the installation is fine the glass is another matter.
After replacing the glass several times due to dirt between the panes, UPVC are now refusing to honour their contract.
Trading Standards cannot force them to fulfil the contract and to date the company are threatening to come and remove the complete installation unless we pay them in full.
What I really don't understand, as it's their glass supplier who is providing faulty glass why are they not pursuing them rather than hound us.
I was given an assurance by their own fitter that they buy the double glazed units in I can't see why they can't claim the glass company for all these faulty units.
I would stress to anybody reading this to never ever enter into an agreement with this company. They have threatened us repeatedly with legal action and have put my husband and I through the mill since April and things are still at a stalemate.
To date no legal action has been taken against us as they would be laughed out of court with the evidence we have against them.
HAD FRONT DOOR FITTED 5 YEARS AGO ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED SO WHEN WE DECIDED TO REPLACE BACK DOOR WE CONTACTED UPVC DOOR CO. THEY FITTED DOOR ON FRIDAY 1ST OCTOBER 2010 WHAT A TOTAL MESS THEY DAMAGED FLOOR TILES,USED ADHESIVE ON THE INSIDE SO WHEN WE REDECORATE ADHESIVE WILL COME OFF WHEN WE REMOVE WALL PAPER,THE FITTER HAD TO CUT INSIDE FINISH LOOKS AS IF IT HAD BEEN CHEWED RAGGED EDGES COULD CUT HAND WHEN CLEANING. CONTACTED HO ASKING IF SOMEONE ELSE WOULD COME OUT TO INSPECT NOT POSSIBLE THEY HAVE TO SEND OUT SAME FITTER HOW AWKWARD IS THAT THEIR REASON IS FITTER WONT GET PAID TILL I PAY THERE ADVERT NO DEPOSIT AND NOTHING TO PAY TILL I AM 100 PER CENT SATISFIED SMACKS OF SUB CONTRACTORS. I HAVE HAD TO CONTACT TRADING STANDARDS WHO STATE UNDER SALE OF GOODS ACT 1982 MY STATUTORY WRITES HAVE BEEN INFRINGED.UPVC CO NOT INTERESTED IN THE DAMAGE CAUSED. ALL I WANTED WAS A DOOR FITTED PROFESSIONALLY AND AT £659 EXPECTED TO GET JUST THAT NOW IM INVOLVED IN WHAT IS GOING TO BE A PROTRACTED ACTION TO GET WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A STRAIGHT FORWARD DOOR FITTED.MY ADVICE DONT GO NEAR THI COMPANY.
I had a front and back door fitted from THE UPVC DOOR COMPANY 2 years ago. The back door had a hair line crack on the panel over the 2 years the crack got worse. The door looked terrible with a big crack along the panel. The seals round the same door were also never fitted properly. As i found out when the winter came in and i could feel the wind comming through the door. causing a heavy draft in the house. i phoned up the UPVC Door Company and reported the faulty door as i too also have a ten year guarantee!! First of all i was advised that it would cost me £49.95 for them to come out and look at the door. So i e-mail them pictures of the faulty door. No one contacted me. So after 2weeks i phoned back and was told they would not replace or fix the door as i had broken it. I never touched this door it was clearly faulty from day one. I was told by friends not to use this company and i never listened !! Now i wish i had although they were cheaper than other companies this is why because they are a bunch of cowboys who rip people off !! I WOULD NOT RECOMEND UPVC DOOR COMPANY AT ALL - Pay a bit extra and get decent doors from a reputable company and they should last you longer than two years.
Like a previous posting, i too had exterior doors fitted with this company and due to poor sealing under the sill, the concrete behind the door under the adhesive tiles had "rotted", this had only been spotted when i went to fit ceramic floor tiles - i contacted their service dept, everyone through from the receptionist to the manager were downright hostile, were adamant that there was no liability issues, wouldn't send anyone to view the installation - needless to say i won't be using them again when it comes to replacing my windows etc - you have been warned!
