Purchases some ladygaga headphones from there, okay it was spur of the moment and I did not notice till following day they were cheaper elsewhere, so as I had not opened them I decided to go for refund of price match etc.....
I decided as the price difference was 30.00 to buy the cheaper pair form another trusted retailer and the offer hmv chance to price match and I would keep both pairs, as they were pretty cool, or a refund.
The reason I assumed hmv do price match was around xmas I as deciding where to buy our xbox and kinect package from and decided to compare. A chap in HMV said dont worry if you find it cheaper we will refund the difference as long as they have it in stock.
Went in and they appeared concerned as to the outer box being a little used, well it was a display box from the shelf that they had inputted the sealed package within. I told them when purchased I had asked wether the digital freebie download was inside as I was concerned it was shop outer box, and told they thought so not to worry.
I repeated that to them and you could see them not believing me also kept saying the box was not sealed and I had to say politely what do you expect when tell me you have to use the display carton, it is empty so they have to input the product in it, hence it will not be sealed obviously.
Now I am a forgiving soul and only the day before had had to return to the store as the inept employee forgot to put all the products in the bag as seemed confused at the till, then found the t shirt was not there also so had to return. Time prior I found an adele cd was missing from the box which they replaced but to be fair it was the first problem I had had with them in years so did not make a big fuss about the total ten quid taxi fair it had cost me.
I have to say with the attitude I go re the headphones I had to ask myself if they really want to keep the store portion of hmv open as you would not have thought it. So they next say they dont do price matches and appear offended/annoyed I suggested it and questioned my explanation of why as said we have never done price match, so the rep who tried to flog me an xbox last time was probably either misinformed or whatever, but I am glad I did not get it from them.
They struggle for the refund, it is a busy saturday and they cant find 80.00 in their tills. She gruffly replies we dont keep cash in the tills to that level it is all supposited, fair enough, so I said again if you cannot refund then perhaps just price match with the pair I had in my bag. If looks could have killed !!!!!! She then manages to get the money and I said to her in this time are you happy to sell a product that is 30.00 more expensive than a few doors away and she says yes, they probably got more of a discount than us and I replied no wonder HMV perhaps will be losing customers.
The headphones turned out to be on their web page at the reduced price akin to the other store so I dont know why they had a problem with selling them, but in anycase I got my refund and my headphones from elsewhere.
I wont be going to HMV again due to attitude and customer messing around, took them ages to refund me and it was blistering hot in the store, half an hour for a refund.
Will donwload digitally next time or buy online, but not with HMV.
