As Navcity have not posted the missing items for the Garmin Zumo 550 I have now passed all the paperwork to Trading Standards who are looking into this company on my behalf.
I have just received a Garmin Zumo 550 from Navcity and on opening the box which had already been opened and some packaging already unwrapped that the normal 12 volt car jack plug has been taken out and is missing?
If this Garmin Zumo is brand new please could Navcity tell me why the car lead is missing as I know they come as standard in the complete kit.
On the webpage it clearly states that the traffic receiver lead is an extra part and not the original part to be taken and replaced with GTM21.
The words on the webpage are “This package also includes” which I think under the UK this means an extra item to be added to the standard kit.
The adhesive circular disk for the dash mount is missing.
The Allen key which normally comes with the screws is missing.
The standard RAM mount kit has been replaced with an older RAM AMPS rectangular unit in a rather old looking plastic bag part No: RAM-B-178U with Amps base.
Having already been caught out with “New” but on checking with Garmin about re-furbished Garmin Zumo 550 whitebox unit that has been sent back with a charging fault I had hoped not to go down the same road again.
So far Navcity have only sent the missing sticky disk for the dash and nothing else.
Had phoned them before the order went through and recorded the conversation. They had assured me that the box would be a brand new retail item and all the standard items enclosed inside.
Not as the webpage reads for the Zumo 550 with GTM21 aerial.
Ordered a new Garmin Zumo 550 GPS from Navcity that says on the web “Brand New in Retail Packaging with 1 Year Guarantee” and Europe 2008 Maps v10 on top of the page. This package also includes Garmin GTM21 FM traffic receiver for Zumo 550
Package came the very next day by courier which was superb so I thought.
Zumo 550 looked new and registered ok with Garmin, no problem. Evan got the email from them for the 3.01GB free map update via the internet.
But on looking into the box things were missing plus older items put in?
Allen key missing from the plastic bag with screws.
Circular adhesive disk for mounting on the dash missing.
Original 12 volt car connector lead taken out and only the Garmin GTM21 FM lead.
Original circular RAM mount missing which has been replaced with a rather old looking bag with RAM-B-178RU RAM Motorcycle mount with AMPS Base.
Have sent two emails to Navcity without a reply, so will try the old fashioned way with a telephone."Owned & Operated by MAYA 2000 Ltd". Anybody had trouble with this company.
Had also included in the invoice and have copy that I was purchasing a brand new boxed GPS and not a whitegoods refurbished Zumo 550. Let alone one with parts taken out and changed?
