As mentioned by others, Elephant aren't the real insurer and when you need to process a claim you're left in the hands of some really useless lot called Albany Insurance. It's now 14 months since somebody ran into me, and it's still not dealt with. These fools have been literally worse than useless, claiming to have faxed things here and written letters there, when they simply, flaty, haven't. There's many more reasons why they're one of the poorest lame-duck insurers, indeed business entitities, I've ever had to deal with, but I'll save time just now. You can PM me if you'd like specifics, I'll oblige. And of course I can back it all up with paperwork!
Elephant can do little to press Albany into doing their job. The thing is, it's Elephant who sold us the policy!
To be completely objective, Elephant haven't technically done anything wrong themselves, but as it's Elephant who my girlfriend and I gave our business too, it's Elephant who I have to ultimately hold responsible for failing to serve us - after all, we don't have a choice who THEY choose to use to administrate their claims. So as anyone who uses Elephant will suffer the same unprofessional, lazy clowns as us should they have a claim, I feel it's right to post this discommendation and warning. There's plenty of other insurers out there, so score Elephant off your list until they no longer use Albany.
One last dig - a courtesy car given to us for a week while ours was in he body shop was a diabolical Daewoo Matiz. Horrible, horrible little roller skate. I see that they're billing that, to be claimed off the other party, at £50 a day. Well, I happen to be a serial car hirer, and I know that a Matiz from Enterprise costs a tenner a day. £50 is the hire cost for stuff like 4x4s. Inerestingly, Albany Insurance is billed that £50-per-dy Matiz by... Albany Fleet Hire. Well, well. Figure it out.
Can I suggest Direct Line if you'd actually like your claims dealt with on a same-year basis?
