We brought two policies for our vans but decided to buy one newer truck; when we changed one of the policies over no problem; when we tried to cancel the other one with cancelation fees loss of commission and only 50% policy money back we will be paying more than the policy. We were told none of this before we brought the policy.

Be aware, this company engages in sharp practice.
They also trade under Lion Recovery Services (one and the same company) and use premium tel. numbers, asking customers to stay on the line forever.
They use scare/harassment tactics and when challenged fold, but many of their customers must be paying to avoid headache and bad credit reports, or simply because they don't know their rights.
I am about to send a complaint about them to the Financial Services Ombudsman.
Avoid Autonet!!!

I have registered a complaint against Autonet Insurance Group with the Finacial Services Ombudsman and Comarethemarket.com the brokers who introduced me to this bunch.

In May 2009, after going through Compare The Market.com for an insurance quote (for
a van I owned at the time). I decided to take out a policy with this
company on the assumption they are a reputable business, otherwise I
thought they would not be listed on their web pages.

I set up a direct debit with Autonet in May 2009 to pay for my
insurance policy.
Unfortunately, Autonet turned out to be a very
unreliable company. I didn't receive all the relevant paperwork from
them by mail that I was promised and found them extremely difficult to
contact via telephone. After four months of writing to them and
calling them with my complaints, without receiving any satisfactory
action, I decided to cancel my policy with Autonet. I informed Autonet
of this in August 2009 via telephone and Royal Mail. I then cancelled
my direct debit with the company through my bank.

I felt I was entitled to a refund of the money I'd already given
Autonet but they invariably prevaricated about this whenever I spoke on the
telephone to them, and as expected nothing ever appeared in the post from
them. I eventually gave up and decided to put it down to bad
experience.
As far as I was concerned that was the end of the matter.
I did not hear anything from this company since September of last year
(2009).

However, on January 5th 2010 I noticed on my bank statement that two
amounts of cash had been fraudulently taken, without permission, from
my bank account by Autonet. I immediately reported this to my bank
(the Co operative) who are now in the process of investigating these
unlawful transactions and endeavouring to have the monies repaid. My
bank also cancelled my debit card and reissued me with a new one, to
prevent this company stealing any more money.

I also called Autonet to report what had happened. Surprisingly,
Autonet informed me they did not take any money from my account. When
I confronted them with the details of the transactions they told me it
was 'nothing to do with them' but a company called Lion Debt Recovery
may have taken the cash. I told Autonet have never heard of Lion Debt
Recovery and I certainly did not give them my bank details.

After several phone calls Autonet finally confessed they had given my bank
details to this company, in clear breach of banking and Insurance
regulations.

I'm now still awaiting the return of my money from Autonet. I have
been told by Visa and the Co operative Bank that they will probably
refund me, even if Autonet don't.
But I still think you should be aware of this company and their
dishonest dealings. If this company did this to me,
how many other customers have been victims?
