We have had 3 months of hell with a Smeg dishwasher also.
Bought a Smeg with 5 year warranty, to replace our old Hotpoint, which lasted 11
Years before it started falling to bits.
Good job it was a 5 yrs warranty as after 2 years a power button broke so we couldn’t turn it on. That was all the initial problem was.
But as there were a few cosmetic problems too we rolled those it as well.
Contacted Smeg service and it went all downhill from then.
So now after 5 service engineer visits (3 different people), and them turning up with either, no parts. Wrong parts. Parts that don’t fit. Fitting parts that weren’t broke,
The machine is finally declared dead?!! .
Not bad considering it was working when we first called them about the broken button. (Not anything serious just a plastic button) .
I lost count of the number of phone calls I have made to SMEG Service, SMEG Customer Relations and the Engineers ( a Smeg Subcontractor); just to keep things moving along.
Now Smeg have decided to Give us a new Machine, but now refuse to give a new warranty with it, (they did promise a new warranty some weeks ago if this situation arose, but are now back tracking).
They have also said they are not interesting in compensating us for all the Hassle.
It’s my opinion that this would only be reasonable considering the 11 weeks of grief, incompetence and loss of a machine for this time.
I am pressing them for this... and if I can get details of someone higher in the SMEG hierarchy, I will be writing them a very strong letter.
Anyone know this sort of information!
