I have worked in the window industry for many years as a rep, not only for Safestyle (other previous companies were Anglian, St Helens Glass and a couple of small companies). The average life expectacy of many local companies is between 18 months and 3 years before they go bust, but big one do too, for instance St Helens Glass. I haven't personally worked for Everest but do know of others who have and would prefer not to comment, Im a great believer in " if you havent got anything good to say, say nothing". In an ideal world we would like everthing to be perfect, but it isnt, like with most sales companies the reps are commission based so you the customer basically pay their wages, Safestyle are a no frills company, they only do windows and doors, dont do showroom, or leave glossy brochures so basically everything is brought to you, at your convenience, ie the windows, any payment agreements. As with many large companies you have a lot of good people working for you but you also have some bad apples in the barrel. A lot of people want the windows really cheap not realising you get what you pay for (buy cheap pay twice). If you take an offer that is available BOGOF, 50%, 55% or whatever the rep will make some money in commission. At the end of the day it is a negotiation, you will get an extra incentive on the day to tempt you for your business but it the same as a departments store or shop everybody would like your business. Once it goes over a certain discount the rep will get no commission, but will at least cover his fuel cost if he brings it in as trade price. Because at the end of the day its volume sales win some lose some. The more people you see the bigger the potential to sell to more people, if you have to see everyone twice you halve the amount of potential customers. Withe regards to the payment options. It is set up on a minimum payment as a safety net so when time are bad you can drop back to that mimimum, if you can afford to double the min, its 2.5 yrs so you have the flexiblity to set the term anywhere inbetween. So in reality you set the term, interest and your payments. It can be settled at anytime with a settlement fee of one months interest. Where people get confused is because it hasnt been explained correctly. Ive been to see people who have paid over £28k for a car that a few years later is worth less than half, but have the magic 3 grand figure for putting windows and doors in their homes. Get real if you buy a dress from the market for a tenner, you might be lucky to get a couple of wears but ends up shrinking or fading. If you pay 80quid from M&S you know it will last a few year.

What a joke...

Had a chap come round last night to give myself and my wife a quote on the bathroom window.....

He came on time and introduced himself to my family…he was very friendly and took interest in my family (typical of any salesman)

He didn’t know what he came to quote for so we explained it was for the bathroom window, which is very, very small.

We left him to measure so he could give us a quote

5 minutes later he came down stairs with a quote for £653!!!!!!!!!!………. I looked at my wife and started laughing…

He then came back with another price of £353…… (a dramatic drop in price) “These are for the ex display windows” he says…… (Where do they have them on display???? I have never seen a safe style shop????)

I explained to him that I could get them bought and fitted for half that price!!!

A little bit unhappy he made a very quick exit…..

Very Very expensive!!! – don’t bother………….

We had the salesman round back in December 2008.Yes,the 3 hr sales pitch all the usual spiel, agreed a price (£9000 for 13 windows and a door), A few days later the surveyor came round. so far so good. Heard nothing then until we phoned them requesting a change of plan (stone mullions on the bay window instead of plastic which we would get a builder to do).We were told somebody would ring back-nobody did. Then we went on holiday. On our return there was a letter from them saying they had been trying to contact us. So we rang them, Again they said somebody woud get back to us- nobody did. Not being in a rush to get new windows we thought they're bound to contact us as they surely want the business. June- they phoned to say they thought we'd cancelled. We said no we hadn't.Apparently as this was after 6 months the survey had to be destroyed due to data protection. The salesman came round again. when we told him about the terrible service he said it will be 300% better this time. Another 3 hr survey A couple of days later a befuddled manager phoned humming and ha-ing on how he he could split the price ie minus the price of the bay window as, us lining up a builder to do his work a few days before all the windows were fitted would be difficult.Nothing since. So tomorrow, after 8 months, we're cancelling.
