Thank god for this thread, we nearly entered into a contract with this agent.
From the word go, they had no record of our arranged viewings. Left us standing around for hours while we waited for someone to show us the properties, fobbing us off with phone calls every half hour 'promising' someone would be there in no time.
They showed us some abominable hell holes, clearly trying to palm off what no one else wanted.
On three separate occasions they made us travel 15 miles to visit the same property and on three separate occasions they had the wrong key and couldn't even let us in to view it.
I've never come across such an unprofessional organisation in my life. Staying well away!
We had a very similar experience with Ludlow Thompson. They lied to our faces when we were securing the property and we had to do all the hard work, constant emails to get the process moving along with phone calls, because emails don't seem to illicit a response and drop ins to the office because phone calls just aren't returned (on the night before our move in we still had not heard when we would be able to complete the contract and actually move in, this is after paying the entirety of the deposit and rent and all the while our van driver is waiting for a time to do his job). We then, like fools, moved into the property hoping that that would be the end of our troubles. The management team is just as bad if not worse than the lettings department. We too waited over two months for simple repairs, we had no running hot water for that entire period and we were getting eaten by disgusting bed bugs!! So we informed them on at least three separate occasions that we would be suspending rent unless they fixed the dilapidated property they had rented us. Still nothing, so we suspended rent. Only to have them audaciously remove the rent from our account along with late charges!! When we queried this we were told we were not allowed to suspend rent. It does not say this anywhere in our contract, in fact that was the first we heard of such a rule. As tenants what else can we do when the management will not return our phone calls or emails all the while which we go without running hot water and have a bug infestation and pay rent for a house in this condition?!! We have sent two letters of complaint and have, shockingly, not heard a word. How a company can be run like this and survive in the current economic climate boggles the mind, I can only hope that bad companies like this are now weeded out. We deserve better, or what else are we paying for??????
