this company called on me a few months ago and i told them to go away, the same manager has since returned claiming to be from a new company called hitex, after some investigating i now know that protectacoat has ceased trading and reformed as hitex with its no quibble 10 year gaurantee. it appears that the old 20 year guarantees are now useless but if you want to confirm this they still trade from same premises although they have changed phone numbers, personally i dont think i will bother

I was told I would get a quote with "We promise not to pressure you in any way". When I was called on the phone to arrange the delivery of my 12 month quote I was told my wife had also to be at home. When I said this was not convenient and unnecessary I was told "It was company policy" that she had to be there.
Insisting both husband and wife are present is a standard hard sell tactic used by unscrupulous companies. In my house its me that makes the policies. They will not be coming. AVOID THIS COMPANY. If they were reputable they would not act like this.

we had the managing director call round to give us a quote. as soon as he realised that we had to go out in 2 hours he quickly changed his mind and left saying that his secretary will phone us tomorrow to rearrange. i couldn't beleive it. how long does it take to give a quote? after reading some of the above comments i'm glad that we didn't have to endure hours of hard sell. needless to say, we won't be using them.

the sad and truthful fact is people who knock a company that they worked for are failures!! people who failed because they didnt listen, are always bigger than the company they worked for and are dreamers. They failed as an indivual and want to blame the company. be real!! i worked for protectacoat.. a good product. good marketing that supported their salespeople extremely well. protectacoat are still here today and will be tomorrow. the sales people who failed and are knocking protectacoat are probably better stacking shelves at tescos.. oops marks and spencers.. they are too good for tescos..
i left protectacoat about 10years ago.. no doubt, the best on the direct home improvement circuit!!
if i needed to go back to the direct sales circuit, i would look no further!!
p.a.

Used to be an employee. Don't think you are the lucky one who had the Marketing Manager show up to your door giving you the opportunity to become one of their 'display homes'. Every single salesman pretends to be the 'Marketing Manager'.

Don't be convinced that he has driven a long way, he actually lives in your area.

After showing you numerous certificates and customer comments, they will throw water on your house and try to convince you that it is all going inside and you have damp. If your walls are painted, the water will roll off and they will tell you that your walls are not 'breathing'.

The price will come down from more than £8000 for one terraced house wall to less than £3000 over 4 drops in price (or exchanges for your 'referral fee').

I left this company not just because they were tricking people into believing that their houses are falling down and full of damp, but I met quite a number of angry customers who's product was rubbish and the company was refusing to uphold their 20 year guarantee. In one instance, my boss told me that the gentleman who was complaining could only have his product fixed if he bought the product for another one of his house walls.

Unethical, and I still have sleepless nights over the people that I sold the product to.

Protectacoat are a great company, I have been dealing with them for many years on quite a few properties. My last house was protectacoated nearly 20 years ago and still looks like new, however I did have it re-painted a couple of years ago as it was originally was white & it was'nt as white as I wanted it. My farther had his house done about 9 years ago, Its a detached farm house built it 1770, same as mine its like new barring a bit of fading (its a White house). I would not hesitate to reccomend them to a friend. My current house will be getting done as soon as I can afford it. I had 1 friend who had a quote off them for 10k & he thought it was too much, he got a local man in to sand & cement his house then paint it. It cost him 5K. Yes half the price but within a year its cracking and crazing, the builder took months to do it on and off and applied most things off a ladder. Also so warrenties and said it was a like for like system which it was not. He regrets not spending the extra now in hindsight.

These are the things that separates protectacoat from the rest im my oppinion after my homework. Well established company for over 30yrs, they are the largest contracting company in the UK. They have 250 reps. They have now changed there materials used for 20 years. The materials used are top quailty & last. There system they use is agrement certified. They are a honourable and creditable company. Yes they do cost more than most but you do get what you pay for and they do the job right.
