So busy that I could not get eye test for some time, so got it done at boots instead. My lenses are very expensive due to eye disease and when test was done (boots that is)they said they could not quote the price for them until the labs opened but I would find despite two voucher d's being awared, one for reading one for general, that I would have to pay quite a bit even though going for nhs frames!!!!!!

So took the prescription and vouchers to specsavers who let me choose two nice frames and said they will be ready in expected time of three weeks due to the lenses. Includint tinting one pair for me at NO CHARGE like last time.

Also as nice as the boots optician was they use the glasses during test that sit on you race rather than machine like specsavers and there was a problem with the pair and they kept falling to one side and she kept tightening them till they hurt me. Despite me saying they are hurting me and at one point yelping, she rather than getting a new set, carried on. I just hope the prescription is correct bearing in mind I was in pain and as an anxious person more so anxious and feeling unable to walk out.

She did say they would improve my vision, so heres hoping, if they dont, I will take them to task over the prescriiption if the hospital say it is different when get there.

Heres hoping all will be okay, but I know never to go to boots again and stick to what I know. Specsavers explained they dont charge excesses for the specialist lenses that do cost more unlike other opticians. So I am getting thinned down lenses due to huge presctiption for nothing extra thanks to them, yet with boots if you are nhs frames with huge lenses, you either have to look like dame edna everage did or go elsewhere with your prescription as they seem too overly keen to point out the designer frames when obvously needing nhs ones.

I also heard boots dong the hard sell with one elderly man to get him to pay 10.00 extra on his free test to get a picture taken of the back of his eyes for record. When he asked for explanation she said well its a test we already do but you have the option to put picture on record for future comparison/deteriation and he seemed pushed into convinced this was a good thing even though asking again was it necessary, to which she said no as we check you eyes this way each test anhow but would you like a picture taken still. It should have been obvious to them that this elderly gent was concerned over the 10.00 as I picked up on it!!!!!! Boots if this picture is so necesary is it not just included in your tests as part of the course?

I have to agree with the person who had problems with their varifocals.
I'd had varifocals before from other optical providers so knew what to expect which is why the moment I tried on my new glasses I realised they were incorrect.
Tried telling that to the assistant only to be quite frankly bullied by him. I was informed the blurred vision was 'normal' and told that all that was needed was for me to go away and 'get used to them'.
Stumbled home barely able to see and 'perservered' as I'd been instructed for two days before my dad insisted on me going back. This time I took my sister along for support, and when the assistant started his bully boy tactics she loudly insisted that we wanted to speak to someone else.
So when he went off into the back room with my glasses, I assumed he must be speaking to the manager. Next thing he was back.....apparently after consulting with the technical chap it turned out that the specs I'd been sent home with had been made to someone else's prescription!
But it didn't end there.
Come back in a week they told me (no apology) and the glasses will be ready for you.
So a week later back I went, this time taking my dad with me. Yes the specs were ready- but unfortunately when I tried them on I found myself with double vision!
Once again they attempted to put the blame on me, saying it was all MY fault, that I was just being difficult, but my dad was having none of it. He refused point blank to listen to any ridiculous excuses and insisted on seeing the manager. So the glasses were taken into the back to be examined by the technician....and this time they'd used MY prescription.....but had fitted the lenses into the frame the wrong way round!
So.....once again I was told to go back the next week.
Once again I took my dad when I went to pick them up and manager himself came out to serve us. Dad said "if you've made a mess of her glasses this time you'll have me to deal with." Fortunately (for him) this time they'd managed to get it right!
I never got a word of appology in the store and when I wrote to Specsavers head office my letter wasn't even acknowledged.
I'd NEVER go to them again!

I ordered a pair of glasses at my local Sevenoaks branch. When they came the lenses were thicker then I was expecting. They swapped them for another pair with smaller lenses, that would be thinner, with no problems at all. The staff were always helpful, which was appreaciated. Very happy.

I don't think you can class all the stores the same though.

My Brother in law has a shop and is also the Optition there and always givin great customer service.

My sister has also worked there for a long time and works hard.

Family and friends has used Specsavers and have always been satisfied
