Hi,I had originally been paying monthly installments to the lewis group through an agent collecting at my door.The gentleman was very pleasant but was taken ill.I kept in contact with him and he said as soon as he was well he would continue with collection.With this information i did not feel at anytime the need to contact the lewis group as i was advised by the collector that he would continue to collect payment when he was well.I then recieved in the post a letter from uk default recovery demanding that i pay the outstanding balance of £682.71.I rang the lewis group up asking why my account had been passed to the uk default recovery when i had been making regular payments to my agent who i explained was taken ill and that they would know this.They said that my agent had sent back my account,after speaking with my agent again he said they asked him to send the accounts back obviously because he couldnt do his job through being unwell.I then rang back lewis group explaing this and that it was unfair to pass my debt to a default recovery when this was not my fault,they should have sent another agent out to collect but they did not and the fact i was in contact with my original agent i did not see i had done anything wrong.They then advised me that uk default recovery was infact the lewis group.I am now under the impression that this was unfair and that i now feel a lot more pressured into clearing this debt.I wanted to know if it is leagal for a debt company to pose with a different name when really it is the same debt company.They also admitted that they couldnt understand why my debt had gone to default recovery and i also asked if it could be referred back to the lewis group and they said no.I would be very grateful if anyone has any advice on this matter and wether it is legal for them to pose under a different name when they are really the lewis group.
