Do not shope with Harveys!!! This is a warning not even a statement.
You will wait 6 months or more and receive your furniture damaged. Some customers have been returning their goods several times.
They take few orders before sending them through to the factory that makes them abroad. Then they are made and shipped over here on the boat, or maybe the day you order they just plant the seed???? Who knows....
WE PAID FOR OUR BED - WHICH ARRIVED WITH NO INSTRUCTIONS AND PARTS MISSING AND PROMTLY BROKE. 6 MONTHS LATER AND MANY CALLS TO THE OXFORD OFFICE (INCLUDING A LETTER TO THE MANAGER NOT REPLIED TO) , THE CUSTOMER 'HELP' LINE (WHICH THEY CHARGE THE CUSTOMER TO USE) AND 3 VANS DELIVERING THE WRONG PARTS WE ARE STILL TRYING TO GET A TOTAL REFUND FOR OUR BED WHICH IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE AND WILL NOT SUPPORT A MATTRESS AND THIS IS 6 YES 6 MONTHS AFTER WE BOUGHT IT. THEY HAVE AT NO STAGE TAKEN ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND ALWAYS PASS THE BUCK - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME BUYING FROM THESE PEOPLE, ALL THEY ARE INTERESTED IN IS GETTING YOUR MONEY THE AFTERSALES SERVICE IS NO- EXISTENT....RANT OVER
My husband and i ordered 2x3 seater sofas from Haveys Newtownabbey store,i have to say that we were very pleased with our sofas, the sales person who delt with us was very professional and polite in every way, delivery time was more or less spot on and the delivery men were just as polite, they removed the packaging and assembled the sofas in no time , inspected them to make sure they were just as they should be and made sure that i completed the check sheets provided which i was more than happy to sign,i personally would not hesitate to purchase any further furniture i might want from the store, HARVEYS YOU GOT YOUR FIRST POSITIVE COMMENT ON THIS SITE
Sorry Adybee, I think moral of this story is don't put a deposit down on something before checking it is suitable...
Harveys spent time selling you the wardrobes, by your own admission did you a good deal, ordered the wardrobes to be built on your behalf, quite obviously the same day as you ordered, which if you did actually want the wardrobes would have been a good thing because it shows efficiency on their part...then after all that, you cancelled....why as a business should they lose out on employee time, and expenses, just because you didn't think things through thoroughly?
We deposited £140 on a pair of wardobes at Harveys branch in Blackburn, Lancs - after some pressure from a sales assistant who told us that he would be willing to give us "staff" discount if we ordered the bedroom furniture there and then (as it wa only available as a weekend off) in what seemed a very good offer.
We later realised that the wardrobes would not be suitable. When my wife phoned on the Monday we were told that we would not receive our deposit back as we had a 24 hour "cooling off" period which had passed. When we spoke to trading standards they informed us that we had no recourse and that we had lost the deposit. Harveys did offer to knock the deposit off the cost of any other item in the store but there was nothing we wanted ot to be honest liked. So we bit the bullet and lost £140.
On 17th November we then received a phone call to say that the wardrobes were available and would be delivered later that day. Not only had they taken our original deposit but it looks like the order was not even cancelled. I'm just hoping that they do not try to charge us for a cancelled delivery on top of not refunding our deposit. So we have lost out all ways. Moral of the story - don't buy anything from Harveys.
