H Samuels are a joke!!! I received a white gold bracelet for xmas from my boyfriend. (it cost £100) A few days later it broke. Not my fault, it just broke! i took it back to my local store. they said they would send it away for repair and it would cost about 30 odd pounds. i was a bit aprehensive but paid it anyway. 2 weeks later i went to pick it up. i inspected it to find that they had welded one of the links the wrong way round! i told them this so they said they would send it back again. i picked it up 2 weeks later. it was sitting in the box in my room for months then on my 21st birthday i decided to wear it, and guess what... it broke again. it just fell off my arm! luckily i noticed this. I took it back to the store to tell them that it must be a faulty bracelet but they said they couldnt replace as i didn't have the receipt. i would have to pay to get it repaired again!! so i have a bracelet that is still broken. Another story....
i got a ring for my birthday in december from my friend. it didn't fit so i went to the store to get it changed. i chose a different ring which i thought was a bit tight around my finger but the shop assistant assured me that it was just because my hands were cold and swollen and the ring would fit properly when my fingers returned to normal temperature. i agreed and went ahead with it. However everytime i tried on the ring it didn't fit! it got shoved in a drawer and forgotten about. just recently i came accross it and decided i would take it back for a different ring. i went into the store in Aberdeen and it was the manager who served me. i told her the story about the ring never fitting my finger and that i would like a replacement ring. she said that was fine and passed me onto another shop assistant who helped me pick out a ring. i eventually picked one after about 15 mins and she took me over to the till. then out of the blue another shop assistant came over to me and said " the manager says you cant get a new ring because this one dates back to december " i told her that i made the manager aware of that when i came into the shop and she said it was ok. the girl turned aroud and said " well you cant get an exchange now" i was raging!!! why couldnt the manager come out and tell me all this. Apparently according to the girl she was on the phone. how convenient!! i have since written a letter to the head office but yet to receive a reply. i have a faulty bracelet which i cant wear and a ring which doesn't fit!! i will never shop at H samuels ever again!
I will never use this company again. I bought my 83 year old mum a watch which they said they would ajust to fit. I took her to the shop and sttod in an empty jewellers till this 'person' came out from behind the window and said..'do you want something' DUH... I was 'served' by a total twonk who said the guy who took links out of bracelets only came in twice a week so she would have to leave it. I said that was not good enough and he became quite rude and very patronising saying it was a difficult job. I was in a jewellers for 6 years...no it isn't. He had no idea how to measure how many links needed taking out and he was keeping the watch but gave my mother no receipt. We took the watch back and I had to leave the shop before I belted him. The manager was not in...surprise....and when I said I would be speaking to him the twonk said...you do that...Letters will now go to the branch and head office but I am probably wasting my time.
on my recent visit into a h samuels store on friday last i went in to purchase a £150 ring i had seen in the clearance section for 3 months, i was a regular customer of course, im not any more.
the level of service i git previously was dismal but they took the biscuit last week.
the man in the store took the ring out the unit for me remarking it was quite small and the only one in stock, suggested i got it widened.
i tried the ring on and it fit perfectly, he then tried to sell me insurance which i refused.
all the time he had a snarl on his face and the assistants were looking me up and down as i am not tiny framed.
it was rung up on the till and my phone rang, i told him to wait one moment as the shop was empty so i knew it wouldn'y intefere with his business.
i stood by the door to speak to the compant for about i minute and no-one passed me.
i went back in and he said a lady had just walked in and baught it.
I WAS AT THE ONLY DOOR THE WHOLE TIME!!!
he had a smirk on his face as did the two female assistants and he said we have a beautifull ring similar over here ad pointed me to a pink £260 ring.
of course i left and will not be going back in.
my mother went back in 40 minutes later and sent a picture to my phone of it, back in it's old position.
if they wan't posh accented customers go to oxford or somewhere posh, not bishop auckland.
if they want to sell more, try serving customers instead of wanting the ones they cannot have.
they work for a company and I OWN ONE, WHATS WRONG WITH MY MONEY.
snobs are better than them, at least people who have money have a reason to be snobs, what reason have they got!!!!
bad customer service, who wants to feed thier snobbery
if they want diamond laden customers got to somewhere there isn't a credit crunch.
they don't deserve anyones business.
my partner brought me a rope chain for xmas and exactly after 5 days it broke !We imediateley returned it to Harlow store where it was purchased and the
deputy manager ( all of 19 years old) got his little eye piece out and told me I had broken it. I thought it was Prirot serving me !
I told him no it did not I am wearing a delicate chain for 10 years and nothing had happened to that I explained that at 45 years old I do know how to look after a piece of jewllery. He would not change it or refund but would send it away to an independent jewellers for assessment my querrey to that was how can they be independent if the jewellers worked for h.Samuels.? I was told in no uncertain terms that I could be rest assured that the independent jewellers were independent, so reluctantly we argeed to this and it would take 2 weeks. To this the Deputy manager added that all jewellers in the town offer the same refund policy, after this we went along to the nearest jewellers which they said that if we had brought the chain from them they would have refunded us or exchanged it without a fuss.
After 2 weeks still no phone call from H.Samuels as promised so I telephoned them . I spoke with the 19 year old Deputy Manager and was told that the chain was not back and would be a few more days I asked what the outcome was and guess what it came back that I had broken it, I asked for the name and address of this independent jewellers and was told he could not give me that info, so I telephoned customer service who told me there is no such thing as an independent jeweller who looks at broken items. The manager of the shop rang me who said that the deputy manager had not said anything of the kind but a a good will gesture they would repair it free of charge, how nice of them I thought not ! not only to be lied too but then the Deputy Manager denied ever saying those things. I went to the shop to pick my chain up as I am having my own independent jewellers report done I told the manageress how upset I was at the service and being lied to and the way I felt robbed of enjoying xmas present and my partner felt robbed of his hard earned cash, She did not seem to care and even said byeee in a sarcastic manner that made me go back and ask her if she was being rude to me she then thought about it and said no.
all I can say is WAKE UP YOU MD'S OF H.SAMUELS BEFORE YOUR BUSINESS GOES TO THE WALL. I WOULD E-MAIL YOU MYSELF BUT YOU DON'T ALLOW THAT . I WONDER WHY ?
THE MORAL OF THE STORY STAY AWAY FROM H.SAMUELS
My fight continue's even if I too have to stand outside the said shop with a placard warning shoppers.
