Farcical waste of time and money.
They advised that taking legal action to recover my debt was a waste of time and that I'd be better off using them.
They said they'd do 'everything legally possible' to recover my debt.
Then, after making a few calls to a number that may or may not still be in use and sending a few standard letters to an address that may or may not still be in use, they advised me to instruct them to take legal action!
Don't bother.
I have read these comments regarding Daniels Silverman with interest and they mirror my own experience exactly.
I engaged their "services" in September 2010 at a cost of over £800 and they have produced absolutely nothing whatsoever. Having obtained a court judgement of over £700,000 against a company, I was promised much by Daniels Silverman and assured that Carol Hughes, their so-called Managing Director, was taking charge of my case personally.
I received a so-called "monthly status report" which was a few lines of unsubstantiated rubbish each month for about three months, after being told by them that their solicitors reckoned I had a very good case for fraud against the company I was pursuing. However, that was never mentioned again and from January 2011 onwards, the "status report" was the same cut and paste few lines for three consecutive months. I know that it was a cut and paste from the previous months as a result of the typo in the "report" which was repeated month after month in identical fashion.
I called Daniels Silverman numerous times to complain, without success. I emailed them and received no response. Finally, having no other recourse, I sent a registered letter to Carol Hughes regarding the matter and unbelievably received - no response! The following month I received the same cut and paste message again and this month there has been nothing at all. Having had the money from me, they obviously imagine that they can now cut me loose - and that's a big mistake on their part for Hell will freeze over before I accept this kind of behaviour.
According to her response to an earlier post, Carol Hughes considers that she runs a "reputable company". Let me tell you this - no company which acts in this manner can ever be called reputable. A genuine company which attempts to satisfy its customers' requirements would never refuse to respond to genuine concerns or enquiries and most certainly would never fail to respond to a registerd letter to its own M.D.
Additionally, the very fact that there are several posts regarding this company over a lengthy period of time, tells you exactly what they are.
If they believe that I am simply going to fade away after giving them over £800 for absolutely nothing, they are in for a shock, for that is never going to happen. Now its their turn to be on the receiving end.
For anyone considering appointing a debt collection agency, do not even consider these people. It's bad enough having problems trying to get money out of someone in the first instance without being done over by the company you engage to assist you.
Avoid them like the plague!
We have had a case open with DanielsSilverman for quite some time now and whilst initially the service was very good, and they were responsive, they soon appeared to become bored with the case and didn't respond to e-mails etc.
It would seem that they like the easy "low hanging fruit" where they can just send off a few threatening emails but anything after that they can't be bothered with
I had a really bad experience with Daniels Silverman when I used them to try and recover a debt I was owed. Before engaging them, I spoke to a sales representative on the phone who made it sound like they were great. He was polished and had all these expressions such as "we'll wipe that smile off his face" and "it's pure honest effective debt collection". He also made it sound easy and gave me the impression they had various options of collecting debts and would be successful. Don't fall for it. I was assigned to a guy who made a few calls and sent a few letters but did nothing else. I had a court judgement against the debtor when I engaged DS but apparently there's not really anything they can do with that. It was only after a few weeks that they explained that they could provide all sorts of other services and that there would be a cost, quite a big cost depending on the service. The guy assigned to my case lost interest soon enough and started avoiding my calls. After he was rude to me a couple of times I asked to speak to a supervisor to have my case reassigned to someone more professional. I left five messages with the customer service people that answer the phones asking to speak to a supervisor on five different days before finally giving up. I have yet to be contacted by them. Don't use Daniels Silverman. It's a total waste of money.
I totally agree with the negative comments about this firm. I had a court judgement against someone in Dundee that was for just over 2000 pounds and the salesperson told me that they would send the debt collectors around etc etc. All they did was send a letter and make a phone call which we had already done. Then they wanted more money. Just a con to get money.
Yes I have to agree a complete waste of money. The 'salesperson' I spoke to on the phone was so convincing that I stupidly handed out over £600!! They have not actually located the home address of the two debtors and have now sent me letters asking for another £434.75 to take this further. £434.75 for more empty promises. I am not that mad. I feel that the 'salesperson' took advantage of a vulnerable person in order for him to make his quotas!
A waste of money. The whole situation with the money I was owed was explained in full to the sales girl. She spoke to her legal team and I was assured we had a very strong case to recover my money.
After signing up, and some months later - the "legal team" advised the exact opposite. There was little point in going legal according to them now.
So I had wasted £300 on Daniels Silverman due to the blatantly wrong advice I was given initially by the sales girl.
DS could not even get hold of my non-payer. I had no problem as he came and found me when I published the truth about him online. All DS did was waste time leaving phone messages.
Dear DS Customer

I would like to investigate your complaint further. Could you please contact me personally via the contact page of our website www.danielssilverman.co.uk with your contact details and the nature of your complaint and I will give the matter my urgent attention.
I too took Daniels Silvermans services out in 2006 to help recover a £4000 debt that had been owed for over a year. A salesman visted and promised a course of action to help recover it. I signed up that day and handed over £500 for their services.
What I got for my £500 was 4 months of ignored calls and emails. The advice I got eventually from their legal team contradicted the sales-pitch I received. When I asked for my money back, I was pointed to terms and conditions which basically say "any promises we make before you sign up are now invalid. You are paying for our administrative services, not assistance in recovering a debt. No refunds". I was then further ignored.
I came to the opinion that Daniels Silverman prey on companies who seek assistance with a debt. Make promises of help in order to get £500 then simply ignore you until you go away.
