i bought a car from arnold clark, i went to them as a friend works for them. i thought by buying my car from ac i was doing the right thing, i was so wrong my salesmen was fab and at the time i thought the salesmanager was too, when i picked my car up it was not valeted properly chocolate wrappers in the back, my passenger seat had fault on it. yes they sorted this problem, but then other things kept happening and still are, when i bought the car the salesmanager said to me if you have any problems within the first year i will honour it yeah what ever, my car is a dog its the best word for the car. i hate the car i wish id never traded my old car in, an now im having yet more problems so i rang the salesmanger with my problem he said he would have to speak to the gm about it but guess what he did not speak to gm, ive spoke to gm who is saying he will not pay for the work to be done to my car he wont even pay a contribution towards it. im disgusted that ive been lied to just to make a sale, i will never be buying another car from ac again. complaint to headoffice it is!!!!!!!!!!!!
i bought a 2008 vauxhall zafira in may 2010 . within a week i had to take it to the mearest vauxhall dealer ,it needed a new steering rack and power sterring pump .we got that repaired then a new module was needed and if that wasnt enough then it needed a new clutch sump valve and a new plate in the gearbox the car itself had only done 31000 on the clock then last week i broke down on the m6 motorway with an electrical fault that car in 3 month must have had over 3000 pounds spent on it i will never go back to arnold clarke again and would advise everyone to sterr clear of them
i bought a 2006 ford focus from a/c Huddersfield in Dec 08,it stopped working after a week.a/c told me to take it to Ford who had it for 2 months,a/c told me for £10 a day i could have a courtesy car!!!!!When i got the car back i had it 4 days when it stopped again,a/c weren't interested telling me it was down to Ford. another month went by and there was still no sign of the car being fixed,i contacted the previous owner who told me he had bought the car from a/c but returned it because of the fault well out of pocket,so they knew it was faulty. When i contacted a/c to reject the car as i hadn't had 2 weeks driving out of it, they told me they didn't know who i was and there was 'no chance of getting my money back'(actual words used by the manager). I then made my way to the showroom and after 5hrs i reluctantly accepted a full trade in price against another of their cars. Although this seemed fair enough they charged me another £130 to transport it from Dundee,i volunteered to get the train up and pick it up myself but they told me that this wouldn't be allowed. 5 thumbs down is nowhere enough, if you do decided to buy from them be very careful and thorough,if a fault occurs return it straight to them, they rely on you taking it to the manufacturer so going over the 2 week period you have to reject a faulty car. If you have the choice of walking or buying a car from a/c i would recommend walking, i don't usually get stressed out but this episode gave me several sleepless nights.
I bought a car from Arnold Clarke in St. Helens and after I bought the car I noticed a few faults that were not mentioned (the air conditioner needed regassing, which I ended up paying £25 myself to be done and the speakers inside were broken) after 1 month the M.O.T was due and since I had the extra arnold clarke cover I had paid for the services and M.O.T's for the next 3 visits, I took the car in and they did replace a part on the car, then after about 5 months of having the car there was an issue with the car over revving. I took the car back to Arnold Clarke 6 times and wasted about 3-4 hours on each visit (the replaced the lower oxygen sensor then the upper oxygen sensor) this still did not resolve the issue, so they told me to go to mercedes (which I did) and they told me an air ventilation pipe was split and it would be £350 to replace, I called Arnold Clarke who advised this was not covered on the Warrenty but then said thay would do the repair for £150 but would not guarentee the work (who would pay £150 for a repair that was not guarenteed) I spent the next 3 months trying to get the issue sorted I spoke to the warrenty company (who could not do anything until I spoke to the manager at Arnold Clarke) I spoke to him and tried to contact him on many occasions and got no call back and so after 3 months I got sick of being messed about and paid for the repair myself from mercedes, who were very professional. (suffice to say) I will never get anything from Arnold Clarke again, my husband is after a new Lexus and my dad wants a newer mercedes (all for £150 worth of work, that I would have paid if the had guarenteed the work, as I do apprecaite not everything is covered on warrenty) I would say to anyone thinking of buying a car from them not to bother as if there are any problems they will not be interested in helping at all.
disgrace, bought a peugeot 206 55plate from arnold clark honda in manchester asked about a test drive and the great salesman managed to side track me,so never got one, picked the car up on the tuesday only driven short distance, did not drive again till saturday as use my bike for work as near by on the saturday noticed a knocking noise from front of car near suspension, was told full service history, again a lie, after hearing knocking and sevice not upto date i booked the car in at a proper peugeot garage for an intrim service, they found the drop pins were worn and noisey, this is after i was assurd the car had been through a full mechanical check and was also given full tick sheet to confirm the checks had been done,i contacted arnold clark who told me to take the car back to them which i did they are now calling peugeot liers as they are saying its not the drop links, told peugeot what they said so went back to peugeot and they shown me what the problem is,the drop link bars,i have to take take the car back so they can repair what they think the problem is,also was promised car would be fully valeted the car was filthy when picked up,the managers excuse they must have been to busy, rear wiper all split they said will order anew one, still waiting, windscreen badly marked due to bad wipers never being changed, gave me £2200 for my car then reduced it by £20 for my returned tax disc,my car is now on sale at £3488 told me my car will go in auction for about £2800,oh am not holding my breath concerning them doing a proper repair, will probably just try and tighten everything up,dreading what state it will be in when they have finished.
