I had tickets for "Mock the Week". We arrived 2 hours before the recording started and it was tipping down with rain. We were 35th in the queue. We were let into the BBC center about an hour before recording and then sat there while over 300 people were let in ahead of us, because they had "priority" tickets. Some of these people only turned up 15 minutes before recording. After 2 hours of waiting we were finally told that the studio was full.
Their only concession was that they would guarantee that we got into the next show that we attended. Well why didn't they make sure we got into this show ? With travelling to and from the studio plus waiting time, we wasted over 5 hours. For what ?
This is not the first time that I've had this problem with these guys and I reckon that they do this all the time. I don't think I've ever got into one of their shows without a priority ticket.
These guys just don't care. They always massively overbook the shows. According to their own numbers, out of a studio audience of 350, 330 plus had priority tickets. That meant that we were queuing up for one of possibly as few as 20 tickets and yet they still handed out tickets to at least another 60 people. And they don't bother to tell you that if you turn up, you'll be the last to be admitted.
If you do take a chance and book tickets for the shows they handle, be prepared for a major disappointment. Also, be prepared for them to show little sympathy for the time and effort you took to get to the show. Also, be prepared for their mantra that they put in their terms and condition that you may not get into the recording and if that happens, it's not their fault. Great attitude for a service company.
