It is now the end of 2011 and I am delighted to inform all that we have finally managed to get rid of this company as managing agents. I think we just gave them too much trouble. As we discovered that there was actually no written agreement between us and them, it was simply a case of giving them six months notice. I am further delighted to report that we have now placed the building with a local company (Barnard Cook) who are proving to be excellent.

How interesting to come across this website and particularly to read the various comments about this company. It is 13 May 2010 and they are still behaving in exactly the same way. Our building of twelve units was virtually 'highjacked' by this company in 2008 when the previous freeholder disposed of his interest. Unfortunately only three out of the twelve of us took up the offer of the freehold (the price suddenly doubled overnight, and 20/20 hindsight is a marvellous thing), resulting in BLR and the owners of one of our units mopping up the remaining nine shares. In July of 2008 we were suddenly presented with them as managing agents and it has been all downhill all of the way. OUr service charge has almost trebled yet the building remains in the state it is and has been for the last two years. They are STILL using their own companies to carry out work and STILL trying to get away with exhorbitant charges for what in some cases is non-existent work. We are commencing the process of extracting them from their position but this all takes time and is not helped by the ratio of owner/occupiers to that of lessees who have moved on but retained their property for rental purposed. It amazes me that this company is still allowed to get away with this. Unfortunately, although it is morally unacceptable, it is still legal and yet one more building (ours) has fallen into the trap. I for one will not accept their trumped up charges. I will let this site know how we get on but thanks to all others who have taken the time and trouble to use this site and particularly to comment on this company. Chrissie Le Marinel.
