I am 20 years old and work part time this company has done nothing but bully me into paying nearly £200 a month which i cant afford ive asked if there is any way to pay less and been told from the very rude staff that i have to pay the £200 or the full amount they have no respect is there anything i can do to get them off my back

I see no reason why i must suffer so someone else can get richer. The bankers get into debt and i pay my taxes to feed they bonuses and fat pockets when i get so hungry i resort to shoplifting. I am reduced to benefits and yet they live like emporers and keep sending me their loan sharks to bully the last penny out of my pockets. If i get my hands on a Moorcroft debt collector i swear i will send their head back to their master! Its funny how we invest heavily on getting people into debt and the only people who can help you are citizens advice beaureau who are volunteers working for free out of pitty.

Hi all

I am currently in the process of obtaining the Moorcroft family’s personal addresses (and phone numbers) to send them some debt collection letters of their own! They have sent me unsupported invoices for dept I have not or never had, so it’s about time they have some of their own medicine. If you would like me to send them all a letter from you, please post it on this forum, I currently have over 10 each just from people in my local area.

Hopefully they will see the error of their ways, if not it would be nice to annoy them like they have annoyed the rest of the UK.

Together we stand.................

Can I ask, debts that are bought over, should letters not be sent out by company buying over debt to advise debtor of new owner??? We have just taken a call at 20.25pm from Moorcroft, and the male was listening but not hearing what was being said. I have read the bloggs on the company profile saying we are professional etc, etc, but why so many complaints if such a good company and I believe that the collectors will be on a bonus as I work as a collector and most are paid bonus on monies they bring in????? hard, rude and extremely aggressive. Moorcroft should take a good look at the copmplaints, but as usual will read them and do nothing, an absolutely disgusting company to deal with

I read a response from Moorcroft to a blag which totally incensed me. I tried to find it again but am new to the site and cant locate it but it was basically a response saying if you dont want the hassle then dont get your bum into debt in the first place!!!! My response to this is firstly - without debt your company (Moorcroft) would not even exist so the truth is You Need Us!! Secondly your practices may or my not be within the law but are ethically wrong if they leed people to take their own lives. Thirdly - these people have been taking money from me for an old credit card debt for a couple of years now. I work on contracts so when I am in work I pay more and when out of work pay less. Recently I finished a contract and could not find work so had to claim income support as a single parent with 3 children living at home. I explained I could only pay £5 a month until I found work but was bullied into paying £30 a month. The woman on the phone said because I had missed so many payments if I did not pay at least this much I would end up in court. I have obliged at the expense of birthday presents, clothes and stuff for my kids and recently found out that even the LA can not take more than £13 a month from me if I owe on my council tax - therefore I realise as this is the one debt you really really have to pay there is no way Moorcroft are entitled to take more. My last contract has now finished and I will cancel my DD with them and they will be on the phone within 48 hours to ask where their money is - same ole same ole only this time they will have to be happy with a fiver - it is all I can afford and if they want to take me to court I will invite the press to attend the case. Will update when they write!! Hope this is helpful to others in some small way :-)

Re:-Moorcroft Debt recovery.
I am nearlly tearing my own hair out with sheer frustration at the incompetent way this company has operated in its dealing with me. after agreeing to pay my gas bill by weekly standing order of £5 a week, I allmost imediately received a letter from them saying I was £25 behind. I continued to receive these letters so got copy statements from the bank, they denied receiving them, so I sent further copy statements by recorded delivery, to be signed for, they were never acknowledged, however the letters continued to arrive plus phone calls from arrogent young men and girls who rang from 8am on a Sunday morning, the calls stopped when I threatened legal action.to my horror I found that I had completed paying my debt AND paid £20 too much. It took allmost a year to pay the £210 at £5 a week. So when I moved house I told them By email that they owed me £20 and please return it to me. Of course they didnt. I didnt give them my new addresss. But they continued to send letters to my old one. I told the tennants that there was nothing to worry about as I owed nothing and to just tear the letters up. Well12 months later, I have received another letter re the Gas debt, tis time from another agency who had taken on the joob of tracing me. And the ammount in question? £25 that same £25 that they hounded me for before. I havent replied to this company yet, I have all the print outs from the bank still, I have a good mind to tell them to take me to court and I will happily produce proof of payment. Can anyone offer any sound advice please? Best wishes.

This company threaten and threaten and try to pressure you to pay on an account that was in dispute prior to them receiving it. Mine was relating to 02 account.

They send intimidating letters sent by snail class mail threatening court action which if official have to be by first class. As soon as you state that the account is in dispute they say the will look into it and I am to ignore any letters they send for next few weeks.

They then send another threat of litigation for me to have to go through the whole sinario again to be told it again will be put on hold. They say they have powers to resolve disputes between customers and 02 and admit I have been on a merry go round experience with them, to be told again I will be taken to court.

I said please do so and I will raise the issue of dispute before a judge and respect his descision. At least he would listen to me and if judgement made against me I would at least only deal with the court, not the bully boys thereafter. To be then told they dont want it to go to court and infact would want a payment schedule instead. I said just take me to court I have had enough, to have the phone slammed down on me and guess what no court action.

Called again after another letter threatening court, this is getting boring and again its on hold to try to resolve it with 02. I am not holding up much hope.

They also get very stressed when you relay you have proof of calls and effort made to resolve situation. You are not allowed to record us they say, I state you are for record puposes and supply transcript if allowed in court. Why do they get stressed about it, I'll tell you, when you tell them you are recording call they dont funny enough bully and threaten and make you feel like poo on a shoe. When you dont they tend to go for the throat and could be seen as intimdating known vulnerable customer.

To be fair they have it on record now I record all calls as stated on previous letter they denied receiving, it suddenly turned up on their system when quoted over phone. We recieved communication.

So why state I am a gone away debtor and could be seen to be avoiding debt in their words and they are threatening charges when I always respond.

Either mismanaged company or cowboy, but making my life hell none the less.

Try not to worry, it is against OFT guidelines to pressure a debtor into paying in full or large instalments they cannot afford so if they refuse to set an arrangement they are breaking the law, trust me. you need to write down your income and expenditure details and provide them to Moorcroft, either in writing or on the phone and offer a payment according to what you have surplus, if all you can afford is £1 per month and your inc/exp show that but they still refuse to accept your offer, contact CAB, as long as you dont have anything excessive i.e £60 per month on luxeries likeky etc then they don't have much option as if it went to court the judge would set it anyway.

If they are threatening you with legal action they are again in breach of OFT guidelines, they can advise you that if you don't make payments it MAY happen, however, they can not tell you they WILL take you to court if you don't pay, especially as you have offered to make instalments.

As I said in my case, their staff seem to have little or no knowledge about the law and debt collection guidelines so in telling you what the have they are lying and breaking the law.

They wont get anyone round, i've received about 5 or 6 letters threatening 'a doorstep collection visit' and everytime i call up asking when someone is coming they state no one is coming. If someone does come round though it would just be someone to discuss repayment, bailiffs etc have to have a court order.

Asking you to borrow money from someone else is in breach of OFT guidelines and the Administration of Justice Act 1970 as they should never advise you to get in debt elsewhere or take out more debt to pay off debt.

Make sure you always take the name and extention number of who you spoke to and also write down the time and date, that way if you need to make a complaint like I am you have all the details, or even better record the calls, but make sure you tell them at the start of the call you are recording it or if used for evidence it's void.

The problem is that they will try to frighten people who do not know the law into paying and bully them with threats of court and more charges but it rarely happens if you are making a reasonable attempt to pay.

If you do decide to make a complaint to or about Moorcroft and their tactics make sure you send a copy totheir client so they know what sort of company they have collecting for them.

Hope this helps, if you need anymore help just ask.

I have worked in debt recovery so i know a bit more than most.

I have had dealings with Moorcroft for over one year now regarding 2 outstanding balances and every time I speak to them I am giving false/innacurate/misleading information.

I am well trained in all of the legislation and guidelines debt recovery agency's have to obide by and Moorcroft are in breach of most of this all the time. I have been told my account has been bought by Moorcroft, which it has not, I was advised if i paid their client directly that they would not know about payments and would persue me for the full balance which is a blatant lie and both the above are in breach of the Administration of Justice Act 1970 as they are blatant lies! i was also advised when i started dealing with a debt management company that Moorcroft would not deal wit them, again in breach of above act as they cannot legally refuse to deal with an appointed 3rd party!

I called them in March to request a copy of their complaints procedure, to which i received a letter with the name on of who i write to to complain, I then called them up to advise this was not a complaints procedure and they said i had to write in to request that, however, the OFT states they have to by law provide a copy of this if requested over the phone and i do not have to write in and as soon as i advised the member of untrained staff he agreed to send me one.

Anyway, Im in the process of writing a lengthy letter to Moorcroft, OFT, CSA and FOS to see about having their licence to collect looked in to and hopefully revoked as their staff have no idea about any of the laws.
If you have experienced anything from Moorcroft which you feel breaches any laws please write to the same authorities as me as the more complaints they receive the more likely something will be done.

If you need any help of advice about if you have a valid complaint just message me.

Cheers all, i'm sure you all agree that something needs to be done about their lack of knowledge and bullying tactics.

I have received a call tonight which went through to my answer machine. The woman was asking for my daughter who has not lived at this address for 15 years and has never given my phone number to anyone in her 'adult' life. She has no debts which anyone is chasing her for and has never heard of this company. I found out who they were by ringing back the number showing on caller display but you could not speak to anyone.

My question is...how will they have got my number? I am interested to know this as if they have done anything underhand I will report them to who ever. I cannot imagine they have obtained it 'legitimately'. Can they ring me about my daughters affairs when she has no dealings at this address. I would be grateful for any help in this.

This "Company" came to my attention, when at the end of using BT as my telecommunications supplier, I would not pay BT due to dispute over final bill. BT ignored my letter and passed my account to Moroncrofts... sorry Moorcrofts. They then posted me a letter, to which I responded with a phone call and explanation stating that as I was suffering from depression, they would leave themselves open to litigation if they continued their case without referral to BT.
No surprise to find out 1 month later, a letter statng Moorcrofts were going to court against me. I then contacted BT, got a grovelling apology over the phone, halved my BT bill and assured that Moorcrofts would delete my case file. Two days later, I contacted Moorcrofts quoted my case number and was told I still owed the money. I then asked for a Manager and asked for a "Health and Safety Risk Assessment" for dealing wih cusomers with Mental Health issues only to be told (Incorrectly) that they did not need to do one. I informed them of their legal requirements (I am a qualified H&S Officer) and was passed to a Senior person who hmmmed and haaaed then told me to e-mail them. This I did, and awaited a response.
After a month has gone by, I tried again e-mailing to now find out that the original e-mail name does not now exist on their server espite no issues sending first e-mail)!!!
I am going to now find out the Company Secretary and Managing Director's details and serve them with notice for Personal Injury in that they have made my condition worse/impaired recovery and also will be informing their Local Authority (not HSE as Moorcrofts are offices) that Moorcrofts are not complying with their Legislative requirements under Section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work etc, Act 1974 (amongst others).
I will post further when I have more info.
Take heart and remember, Nils Illegitimum Carborundum (Don't let the b**tards grind you down)
