How I was sold this terrible service but got all my money back!
To keep it short. I too bought into this advertising by one of the high pressure salesmen.
Whilst on the phone to this guy I asked him how many customers could customerstreet really bring
to my business. "At least 10 new customers every month"
Over six months I got one phone call and that was from myself testing the number!
I eventually logged a complaint with their customer relations team and stated that the salesman had promised over the phone a minimum of 10 new customers.
As the calls are recorded their complaints team looked into it and about 6 weeks later I got a full refund.
Most business' sign up for this service because of the BT name but this is far from BTs credibility
I was pressured into signing up for the package get 2 for the price of 1. 2 domain names and 10 key phrases for total cost of £323.88 includes the first months installment thereafter £69 vat.
a couple of days later i had a call from another advertising agency who advertise on facebook and told me how bad customer street really was and directed me to the blagger website. after reading the reviews and spking to the other adbertising agency i decided to cancel. They directed me to someone elses website that was designed by customer street the template they used was exactly the same one, just a different colour. thats when i truly believed what i was being told. so luckily i was within my cooling off period to cancel. Im so lucky that im out of this now, saved me over £1000. I would like to wish goodluck to all those that are in the same boat as my self. Kay
I too was hoodwinked by this company. Every time they ring me, they tell me they are not surprised I am not getting anyone contacting me ( not one person in 7 months)as my website isn't very attractive - not surprising as their templates are rubbish! They have tried to sell me a better website on each occasion that they have been in touch - first for £1100 then for £800 and now £500. I'm going to stop paying them and see what happens! At least my contract has nearly expired.
I too was caught out by this company and find myself tied to a twelve month contract and have not had one single enquiry.
I think we have all been taken to the cleaners.
Has anyone actually managed to get out of the contract, and if so how did you do it?
Aha - so there is a cooling off period!!! Is this a statutory law? I offer you my support, and would be interested to know how you got on with BT Customer Street in the Small Claims Court.
I am a small business person running a holistic bodywork business, and I was sold this package over the phone with persuasive sales tactics that promised state of the art web design and professional support with writing copy, and all sorts of cunning search engine tricks to get my customers to find me. What they delivered was truly pathetic. The advertising copy was ridiculous, and the design was very cheap and boring. They then tell you to write and design the site yourself, having sold you a 'service'. Nine months afterwards, I have received ONE client from this website.
I called to cancel the day after I agreed to the package on the phone (they have no record of that call - but have records of all my other calls). They told me that I couldn't cancel, because as a business contract, there was no cooling off period. It seems that they were breaking the law therefore, and I am going to pursue them for the money they have taken off me.
I find their business practices highly unethical. They don't seem to realise that the people they target, iridologists, osteopaths, counsellors, life coaches, herbalists and so on do work under a serious code of ethics whilst serving the public. When we have an unsatisfied customer, we refund their fee. It takes a lot of money, time and effort to train in your chosen craft, and then to get exploited by a company that operates a ineffective service that you cannot get out of paying for for a year because of a 5 minute decision is enough to make you worse than sick.
I have decided to go to my MP about this, and now I have seen how many people have suffered, I will not stop until I get my money back.
Hello everyone, I am preparing to take BT Customer st to the small claims court. I feel with having a letter which tells me I have a five day cooling off period I have a good chance of success. Its now nearly two years since I spoke on the telephone to them when they mis sold a package to me which can only be described as laughable inconcise and totally flawed and incidentally has produced zero leads let alone any business.
These people need to be brought to justice and I intend to do it soon.

I was coaxed into advertising with BT Customer
Street. The websites they have created are to a
very poor standard and are not representative of
me or my company. I already had my own website
set up that is perfect but with their aggressive
sales techniques and impressive promises I was pushed into parting with a large amount of money.
I want out of this contract but I don't know who
to complain to or who to contact as there is no
information about this on their website.
Please help.
Customer Street DID NOT IMPROVE my businees for the year contract. In short waste of time. Discovered I was getting hits from all over the world from certain countries. Found out that my Hits were mainly due to 'unusual' addies. Tried to cancel, but was ignored due to the fact I had tied myself into a 12 month contract. You can do the same thing cheaper with your own software. Total cost was £200 set up and 12 payments of £34.44 OUCH!!! By the way I only got 2 customers in 12 months and that was advertiing acheap deal on driving lessons 10 for £150. (Average driving lesson price £19)
I would just like to say i stupidly signed up with this company. After refusing to pay them i got a letter from collections, all i had to pay was my outstanding bill and the contract is now void so i am not tied in for 12months. I paid £103 which was for 3 months arrears and thats the end of customer street!
My advice would be to not pay them and wait for it to go to a debt collection and just pay them and ask them to cancel the contract with customer street. Easier than going to court.
In my last posting about BT Customer street I rated them Bad Company. This has now gone to 4, as following my complaints they have halved my monthly direct debits to £19.95. Be advised that verbal contracts with them are not covered by the Consumer protection act. If you get reeled into breaking your golden rule of never giving your details over the phone, as I was in a moment of madness, your call was recorded and becomes a legal instrument. This is seen as a `business to business` contract, so there is no cooling off period. My advice for the more rational businessperson is set up your own website and do the whole thing yourself.
