I also used this company and had problems with their fitting the system; they told me at first that no scaffolding was required and when thier fitters arrived - they said they could not fit the system without scaffolding! They did not put the panel where I specified so that it is now impossible to put PV panels on my roof. The plumber was very good - but he was self-employed (and not a Solar Home Energy employee - and had a contract to fit the piping and electrics.
They also did an installation for me in Dec 1996. They left no installation certification, specifications or maintenance instructions. Now the system has gone wrong I find half a dozen basic installation and safety faults that should not have occured - no non-return valve on solar circuit, expansion vessel wrongly fitted, water delivery at 78 degrees with no mixer, etc, etc all against the code of ethics of their trade association. Just as well they are no longer operating.
We also had a solar system by solar home energy and noticed the problems you have had on this site.

This company is quick and happy to take your money but take forever to provide the installation, then it doesn't work, then they refuse to return your calls to arrange to fix the problems. We have lost a fortune and have an installation which doesn't work and has caused more damage to our home. They took our deposit in Sept 08, we couldn't get them to install till Jan 09, the system has never worked and now we can't get them to fix the problems nor speak with us. We have threatened further legal action to no avail. This is a terrible company who are just out for your money - stay clear.
