This company (laptops direct) are absolutely appalling. I warn any of you that if you want excellent aftersales service then DO NOT use this company. If I can stop one person using this company then I will feel satisfied in posting this comment.
Two years ago I purchased a lenovo laptop and opted to pay an extra £89 for an additional three year courier and collect warranty. My laptop became faulty six weeks ago and this is when all my troubles began.
I contacted laptops direct who said the warranty hadn't been registered by myself as it should have been. Apparently they send the customer an email once the purchase is complete in which the customer needs to register the warranty. (Why a company as big as laptops direct can't register the product on behalf of the customer I do not know!)
Anyway, despite me having the original receipts as proof of purchase for both the laptop and the extended warranty, laptops direct refused to honour the warranty claiming it was my fault for not registering it. They also refused to refund me the £89 warranty cost.
The customer services department are virtually impossible to get hold of. They don't give you a number for the customer complaints dept. They insist all complaints are written on the promise they will reply in writing within 14 days. My reply from laptops direct took five weeks. The customer services dept made empty promises or lies about addressing my complaint were endless. I had to make over 30 phone calls to chase up my complaint. I was often told that the 'person' who deals with complaints is on holiday or 'out of the office'. When I asked if I could speak to a manager I was always refused.
Eventually I contact Lenovo laptops direct and explained my predicament. They said that this type of complaint regarding
Laptops Direct was common. They also said that laptops direct had a contractual arrangement to provide the warranty. Out of pity more than anything, Lenovo honoured my warranty once proof of purchase was proven.
My reply from Laptops Direct 'eventually' came and they basically palmed me off with an 'it's your fault' generic letter.
I honestly can not put in writing just how appalling the customer services department are. They are rude, unhelpful and uninterested in the customers issues. They need to understand that is the customer who keeps them
employed. Without the customer they would not
have a job. I genuinely urge you not to use this company. You will regret it and it will cost you a great deal of
your own time and money.
I came across this post because I bought a laptop from this company before and was looking to buy another. I was surprised to find them here and have been motivated enough to write.
I bought an HP laptop from them 14 motnhs ago, it came quickly, they were fine, it's been a good computer with no problems.
Like the previous poster I have bought an Acer (from a differnet company) in the past. It was terrible. Maybe the issue here is Acer and not Laptopsdirect. I had no problems with Laptopsdirect and it's a shame to find whingers sculking around this site.
