Rock Solid Kitchens came into our home yesterday and sold usd a kitchen. We put down a £100 deposit. We then found this web-site and others pointing out what a rubbish company they are.
This morning I cancelled my cheque (cost £10) & we sent them a letter explaining that following changes to contract law in October 2008 all contracts taken out with face to face sales people (even when not cold callers) are subject to a 7 day cooling off period. Within this time you can legally cancel the contract and DO NOT have to pay ANYTHING. Deposit/Charge ANYTHING.
As their contract didn't even have the up-to-date legislation (detailed the old set up) it's legally uninforceable. Therefore if they'd delivered within 7 days we could've kept the kitchen for free!!!!!!! As it is though all anyone needs to do is cancel within 7 days to get out of it...at no cost...it's the law! :D
Hope that helps!
PS: Don't be fooled by some positive feedback - they probably put these on themselves!!!
Im aware that people rarely write good things about companies on sites like these. After all, if you buy a kitchen and you’re happy with it, you never go online and tell anybody….you just get on with your life! So unfortunately anybody thinking of buying from a company such as rocksolid will only get bad reviews from the tiny percentage of people who are unhappy, for whatever reason.
I design and fit kitchens and bathrooms full time for my own clients, and I buy a lot of my kitchens from Rock Solid andI have nothing but good things to say about them. The quality of their carcasses is second to none, they sell to the trade at incredibly low prices that I DO pass on to my clients and may i suggest that if people want to buy a “universal” unit with so many unwanted hinge, shelf & other holes in them that they resemble a second hand dart board they go to B&Q or Howdens!
Of course I have had the odd problem with them (show me a kitchen supplier you don’t have problems with!) but whatever people have said here, they DO have a customer service department, they DO sort out problems but you have to realise that it’s a national business and problems cannot always be sorted out the following day because they have to fit in with delivery schedules.Get yourself a decent kitchen fitter and he’ll sort out most problems but realise if you wish to fit a kitchen yourself with little experience you’re bound to run in to trouble!
Would you pay for a car then check later to see if it had wheels? After reading some of the negative comments on here all i can say is that if you're going to spend 1000’s of pounds it would be an idea to check that everything is there when its delivered and THEN hand over your money!! I did exactly that and admittedly, although everything was there, two of the doors were damaged, which i didn't spot before i paid, and it did take 3 weeks to get them replaced,(but as it took 5 weeks from order to delivery i wasn't expecting them to be replaced the next day)I also had some handles missing on final fitting count, so i bought them myself.
All in all i am over the moon with my kitchen. The quality is the same but It cost less than half of what B & Q quoted and have you read the complaints about their customer service? and the other kitchen companies on here?
When you're buying a product made up of so many different components, it seems that all kitchen companies have problems with orders from time to time.
After taking into account the amount of money Rocksolid saved me, I would recommend them to anyone with a little common sense about how they spend their money
i was told about this site by a friend but.I had already bought my kitchen from Rocksolid. Originally I was surprised at some of the comments on here until I then read some of the bad reviews on big companies like MFI and B&Q and realised it's mainly for people with bad experiences to have a whinge on. As a realist I felt compelled to add my comments. First, the kitchen I bought priced out at over 3,000 pounds with 2 other companies. - I paid 1,100 pounds. I risked 200 deposit and agreed to pay 900 on delivery. The delivery, due at 9 am, arrived at 1pm but the driver rang me at 8am to tell me he'd be late. I'd taken the day off, so no big worry. The driverwas in a hurry and was reluctant to count everything off, which aroused my suspicions. I refused to pay till he did. surprisingly, everything was there, proving my suspicions wrong. he really WAS just late. I paid my own fitter. He said the cupboards impressed him because instead of the usual flimsy hardboard backs, they were solid 12mm chipboard. My blank stare prompted a layman's translation...."They'll last a lot longer" he said, shaking his head at my ignorance. THEN we discovered there were 4 handles missing. After ringing twice and sending 3 e-mails, no handles came. As a realist, I cut my losses and bought 4 handles myself from a local supplier. They cost 1.50 each. My 3,000 pound kitchen ended up costing me 1,106 pounds, plus 2 fruitless phone calls. If i'd paid 2,000 extra to a company I suppose they might spend some of it on a better after-sales service, but I didn't, so I can't complain. If I was pressed, i'd have to say that rocksolid owe me six quid but my 15 year-old son has just borrowed a tenner. I'm not expecting that back any time soon and he has NEVER saved me 2,000 quid!!
I think it's only fair after reading some of the comments here to even up the score a little. I won't say my kitchen delivery went totally without a hitch, (it was late arriving and although we checked it off before paying we later found 4 handles missing) but i have read some of the horror stories about other kitchen companies and i can only guess that that a purchase with so many parts will be prone to delivery problems whoever you order from. i'm just glad that rocksolid saved me so much money so the few problems don't seem so big. My kitchen actually looks beautiful and i'd recommend them to anyone.

i tried to put a comment on here last week but it doesn't looked to have worked. my kitchen from these guys was great and i got so much stuff i would never have been able to afford from anywhere else. my parents took weeks sorting out the issues they had with magnet but all i had with rock solid kitchens was a missing door that came 1 week later. every company has its problems but rock solid sorted mine no problem and were really nice about it.
They said I'd be "SAVING OVER £3000" for going with them.
It arrived this week. There is SO much stuff missing. I have to pay someone to come in and Put Door Handles on them, and fix them, and buy ALL the missing peieces. Which will cost me over ££££'s to fix!!
I called the company. SIX, 6 times they HUNG UP on me.
Phoned to talk to the manager, he's not in.
OVER 3000 COMPLAINTS ALREADY ON THIS COMPANY!
DO NOT, DO NOT, buy from this company.
I wish I looked blagger.com up first before paying £5000 for the kitchen.
I am going to contact ROGE TRADES & WATCH DOG - PLEASE DO THE SAME!!!!!!
I think we have had a lucky escape, we were going to buy a kitchen from Rock Solid or Cheapest kitchens in the world, but got warned off them just before we went to order.
Luckily we were recommended to go to 24-seven Kitchen & Granite Solutions and got our dream kitchen at a great price... we would not recommend anyone else to buy a kitchen from, this company has excellent customer service and nothing is too much trouble.
