A word of warning ......... don't use them.
I am a customer of Anglian Windows. Thinking that they were a professional organisation (as advertised on TV), and after a little research, I invited them to install 8 windows and two doors. During the installation they managed to severely damage the rendering on one side of a front window by using brute force to get the old frame out. The front of the house now looks a mess.
I accept that accidents can sometimes happen, but the trouble I'm going through with this company to get things put right should never happen. I have spent £1000's of pounds.
In creating this I hope others will learn from my mistake, but if not, well, you have been warned.
DREADFUL FIRM, NOT RECOMMENDED!! - and we are NOT connected to any rival company like one writer suggested!
Being retired pensioners we have to be careful with our money so when we recently decided to see if we could afford a garden room on the back of our house we got several firms in for quotes. First was Everest who told us we would not get anything under £20,000 BEFORE he had even started taking measurements or asking what exactly we wanted.
Next was Anglian Windows. Their rep was extremely nice and was with us for nearly 4 hours but he did listen, asked what we wanted and then took measurements and was helpful with that. He started with a very high quote, then almost immediately parred it down by over £3000. This was still too much for us, being on a limited budget as the money was/is our savings, but he phoned his boss and eventually they agreed to drop some more so long as we signed up and gave the deposit that afternoon.
Stupidly we did so but, having thought about it afterwards we knew we could not really afford it so we decided to cancel. First the rep was informed by phone, then we filled in the slip on the sales docket and posted that off, recorded delivery. Next we sent an email to Anglian stating our intentions to cancel. Within 1/2 hour we received confirmation email acknowledging we were within the required 7 days and quoting a cancellation no. They confirmed again by post 2 days later. We have been trying to get our deposit back ever since and, after several calls to various depts., 2 days ago we finally got a 'heat number' and told to telephone next day, quote that and they would refund our deposit. Three days & several more phonecalls on we're still fighting to get our deposit back of Anglian Windows.
We are now sitting waiting for the Rep to call back AND the persons we were told to ring with the heat number who always appear to be in meetings or out of the office!
This is the worst company anybody could ever deal with and we are regretting our stupidity, are several thousand £'s down and anxious about getting it back.
When we do get our money back it will go back into our meagre savings account and stay there. There will be no more ideas about making more space in our little house.
Please be wary of ANGLIAN WINDOWS they are an unscrupulous company with NO idea at all of customer care.
I think I had the same salesman (unless they are all trained to be rude and pushy). He came in and did exactly the same thing. And he wouldn't leave when I said that I would think about it. He had the exact same attitude. I got really annoyed and asked him to leave. I did complain to the field manager and they followed the first visit with someone else who was extremely pleasant and polite, who gave me a much, MUCH better quote. Which makes you think, if they can get from the initial quote of £3800 to around 1200 for the same product, what is their margin of profit? Would you call this a rip-off? I most certainly would!
By the way, the Reading/Basingstoke office is absolutely appauling. I think it's manned by 2-3 people who are clueless about meeting targets, dates, schedules and most of all customer service.
Thought that would make you feel better, knowing that others have been in the same position as you were.
I've just had my front door replaced by Angian. I ordered the door in June. I had to chase them up to get an installation date on September 25! The fitter arrived in the morning, took the old door out...and realised he couldn't do the job because the man who did the survey didn't look properly and the door had no lintel! So, he made a mess, put the old door back and left telling me that I would hear from the office soon and that they would come back to fit an angle lintel.
Needless to say I was the one who had to chase them up again! Appauling customer service! Apparently someone came while I was at work, checked the above the door area and said they could fit the door. The fitters came yesterday, removed the old frame and assured me that no lintel is needed as the brickwork above the door is soldier course (whatever that means!). They fitted the door (only yesterday), and guess what. They left without putting all the extras on the door that I had paid for (security chain, knocker, spy hole!). So yet again I have to chase them up and have them back again. Not to mention that I am very worried about the wall above the door. The old wooden frame had a big wooden beam supporting the brickwork. They were adamant that the beam was not supporting anything. Who should I believe? The first fitter who came and wouldn't touch the door or the second ones who came with a '22-year experience', which to me is a lot of rubbish! Now I can only hope I will not end up with cracks that will cost me 4 times the price of the door to fix!
Has anything similar happened to you? Any problems with cracks occuring after they've installed doors/windows?
They are rubbish! absolutely, completely and utterly unprofessional.
We urge you for your own good to stay away from this firm.
After 10 months of struggle our patios doors have still not been installed properly, and we have decided to sue.
Even if we win we doubt they will pay. In our view they are sharks, and they have left my family and property at risk by leaving doors which dont lock.
If you do use them get EVERYTHING in writing accept NOTHING on their word and DO NOT communicate by phone - you'll get the standard "we have no record of that conversation sir"
Had a rep from the Reading office visit me this week. He was rude, was not interested in getting out of the chair to look at the Patio door I wanted changed to a French door. His quote started at £2287 for patio doors even though I did not want them, had to ask for price for French doors, he then quoted me £3859. Asked for his best price, he dropped it to £1853 then £1,615. I said I wanted to think about it. After all I wanted was a non obligatory quote. He starting saying his company offers the best and if I want Tat like my front door I should go elsewhere (I had my front door fitted by another company and were happy with them). He continued slating other companies and referring to my "tat" front door. The man was so rude about my front door I was very upset, he left in a huff saying if I want "tat" I should to to someone else or better still buy a door from the internet and get a joker to fit it. I complained the same day by email. The manager called me back the next day to apologise but I am still angry at his rudeness. Would not recommend them to anyone
We used Anglian for replacement windows and doors, gutters, facias etc. The work they carried out was OK. A couple of problems in fitting that were sorted in reasonable time. However ... One of the external doors has developed a problem. We now cannot lock it which is obviously creates a security issue.
As the work and parts carried a warranty I thought that it would be an easy issue to rectify.
I rang and explained the situation and was told that they could send an engineer in 15 days time.. I argued that this means the property would be therefore unlocked and not secure. They advised nothing could be done unless I paid £144.00 for special call out..
Beware .. The after sales system and consideration towards the customers plight does not match the pre-sales hype and promise!
I asked for a senior manager or possibly a director to call me as I considered this was not a satisfactory response from Anglian .. They said this may take 2 days!
