Daniel James Kitchens AKA James Anthony:
This is quite simply the most shoddily run excuse for a kitchen company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Frankly how they can claim to be in the same space as Smallbones and Mark Wilkinson is a wonder to me. We used them to fit our kitchen in '07 after promises from the owner/director (complete prat of a bloke) of a high quality bespoke kitchen to rival smallbones at a fraction of the cost. To cut a long story short we nearly sued them for leaving an exposed electrical connection next to the gas pipe on our cooker - none of it had been fitted by a qualified engineer - totally illegal and VERY dangerous. It was only because our bathroom was being fitted at the time by a qualified electrician who spotted the dangerous hook up that we even knew about this - he had wanted to stick a condemn notice on the kitchen! We made a private settlement in the end for them to supply some wardrobes as compensation. Btw the kitchen also took about 13 weeks instead of the promised 3 weeks to finish. The project manager was completely useless too. mind you at least you can get hold of him on the phone - the owner seemed to be like the invisible man once the excrement had hit the fan. Plus to add insult to serious injury The 'majic cupboard' corner unit is now falling apart. Do not touch them with a bargepole - save some extra cash and use a professional outfit instead! There is no such thing as a free lunch!
I had dealings with this guy when he was trading as Daniel James and he was horrendous. A 3 week job too 4 months, his 'project manager' was clueless, numerous mistakes were made, his designs are rubbish, and his project manager left mu house in an utter mess at the end of each day. His other carpenters didn't. I actually designed most of it myself. He didn't seem to read emails or respond to letters. We were so close to taking him to the small claims court too. Our job did get completed and it was just about acceptable. He let us off paying the outstanding couple of hundred pounds as a 'goodwill gesture' which I didn't want to accept. I wanted to pay the money adn have them finish the job properly. However, he ignored every letter we sent him and in the end I gave up. DO NOT GO NEAR THIS COMPANY OR YOU WILL END UP WITH A MAJOR HEADACHE
I feel for anyone who has had the misfortune to have dealings with 'man'.
Bought a bespoke kitchen in early '08, arrived on time supply only. The doors went back, the drawer fronts went back, the boxes were wrong sizes, resulted in completely repainting it as there was a colour mismatch. Still waiting in vain for undelivered goods.
I have a raft of emails with interesting info on the workings his ego.
Am considering small claims just for the satisfaction!
