Comments:

My brother and sister have both had bedrooms done by Betta Living and i have a few friends who have used them for kitchens so it seemed logical to me to use them for our new kitchen. However my wife wanted to have a look around for something different than our friends and as we were on a low budget we went down the DiY route b&q, homebase wickes etc but to be honest i was insulted by the fiiting prises4/6k!!! and i was not impressed by the quality of the units. The main thing I was disapointed with was the lack of style or flair(or interest) of the "designers" and i asked my wife if we could try Betta Living. We had a man come round (spanish I think) who really seemed to know what he was talking about and asked us what level of investment we wre looking for and then set about designing a kitchen based on what we had told him.
The kitchen looked great and he came up with some great ideas which included anamazing corner sink unit and an enormous pantry and when he got to the price it was actually less than we had said so based on that and other considerations we ordered the kitchen with him.
The kitchen was delivered a few weeks later and I must admit I was nervous not just on how it would look but how it would be fitted as the las person who had any work from them was 8/9 years ago an who knows what could have changed in that time. We are happy to report that we are over the moon with not just the design but the quality and service we recieved and the profesionalism and politeness of the fitters throughout the process. The main thing we have learnt from this experience is to go for the safe option and not the apparent cheap option.

having had a good experience with our bedroom, i decided to have our second bedroom furniture fitted again by betta living. we paid the deposit early june this year, surveyor came a week after and nothing has been heard from them until now. been calling the main branch (? where) last week only to be told to wait for the call from the branch manager that was dealing with me. i told them many times that this manager is not even picking up his phone which i have been calling as well! any idea how to get in touch with their chairman to get a refund for my deposit?

Please ignore my last comments about Betta Living. It seems my issue was down to genuine mistakes and not representative of this company.

Infact I have read negative comments about them, that this caused me to cancel, however after having a chat with the chairman, who seems a very genuine person I have reinstated this order.

Is there a way to get my previous review taken off?

We had Betta living come round and design two bedrooms 5 ½ hours later we signed the contract and left a deposit for £1575.

A couple of days later I discovered that Betta living have quite a bad reputation, so I cancelled via email and post within the 7 day cooling off period.

I did request a breakdown in the prices between the two bedrooms, which took a few days to come through, It was my intention to have one bedroom done and then the second, if everything was ok .

However I noticed that despite repeated requests they have not returned my deposit.

I rang Trading standards who advised me to make a claim against the credit card company, because they have joint responsibility. However the fact that they still have my deposit means I can’t go ahead with a more reputable company.

I don’t see what they are trying to achieve by holding my deposit, at best they may gain a few pounds in interest, but they have now definitely lost the order for one bedroom.

If you let Betta living designers into your home , your going to get a very hard sell, and if you decide later to cancel, your going to struggle to get your money back.

Not the kind of company I want to deal with, and to think my initial concerns were getting them to come back if there were any issues.

you would think in these times they would grab anything!
shall look somewhere else thanking god for the escape.

where do i start, had a measurer come round to measure kitchen june 1st,he done that,we had a issue about moving a metre and water mains and other stuff had to be moved,he spoke on the phone and was told to take £150 of the order(whoopey),got a quote to have work done, metre moved etc and it cost nearly £2000,so i rang betta living on the 3rd june and said i will have to cancel kitchen, they said no problem they would,nt cash cheque deposit, went to my bank a week later and they cashed my cheque, spoke to one of there unexperience customer services people and they swung it round saying i told them i would cancel the cheque, arrrrr, been on the phone every week now since the 3rd and keep getting parmed of all the time, was told by the measurer/salesman on the phone on the 14th that he would do paper work to get refund to head office, never happened as i spoke to headoffice on the 25th and they reacon i aint cancelled and some1 from the thurrock department as put on system on the 24th that i still want kitchen waiting for work to be finished????stresseddddddd..got on the phone again today 28th and was told when i rang on the 3rd to cancel,it would,nt of counted anyway,as they said they should of told me to cancel in writting. which i was,nt told when i rang saleman to cancel it.so looks like im losing my £900 deposit.so overall not a good company really, customer service is really bad and they take forever to reply to you if they do that is.

Reference customer Mather: There are always two sides to a story so I thought in the interest of given your readers a balanced view I would respond as I am that manager in question. The customer cancelled her order under the terms and conditions laid out by trading standards, and was entiltled to a full refund. However, the cheque was not banked as per her request.
It is fair to say that as we have been in business since 1966 we are not financially dependant on Mrs Mathers deposit and the reason she decided to cancel was down to affordablity and not quality. It is unfortunate that she found it necessary to leave a negative comment about us when we did nothing wrong. Shame really.

We had a quote for a kitchen with some appliances with the condition there was a 7 day cooling off period should we change our mind.I gave a cheque for the deposit.
We did indeed decide to cancel and when we went to the showroom I spoke to the manager on the phone. He said he had the cheque in his pocket and would post it back.Im still waiting for it.Luckily I cancelled the cheque with the bank.

"I have just had a Betta Living Kitchen fitted and cannot be more happy with the quality of service and quality of product and would gladly recommend the company to any one."

" I have just had a Betta Living Kitchen fitted and am totally unhappy with the service and quality of the product and would not recommend the company to anyone"

Which one of these statements is true? You dont know and have no way of knowing which makes a farce of the sites which could be so helpfull if the messages could be trusted.

Someone who has left a company and now works for a competitor is likly to write negative comments to help sales in their current job. Always try to read between the lines. I have seen it reported that some companies ask their sales team to go on these sites and write nice things.

What can we individuals do ?

Good tip about Bettaliving. Say no to the first sales man. Say no to subsequent phone calls untill they ring you from the "trade department". They will tell you that they can sell you exactly what you had designed but at a much reduced price. Its up to you if you want to do business like that but my reaction having worked for this outfit would be a resounding no!

DO NOT WORK OR BUY OFF THIS COMPANY. I am an experienced sales manager. After working for this company for 6 weeks I would urge anyone thinking of using this firm to go somewhere else. The Sales director does not care about his employees or his customers and charges as much as possible for his chinese chipboard. Do not buy on the night and see what reaction you get.....you have been warned.

I was approached in my local supermarket by Betta Living in September and the Reps I spoke to were very helpful and informative. I had been looking into having a bespoke fitted kitchen and had been quoted by several DIY and high street companies and also by Space Kitchens, I found them all to be pushy and overbearing. I reluctantly agreed to have a betta living designer visit my home in Coventry to design my kitchen and do a costing.
The designer arrived on the date arranged and bang on time, his name was Anthony Webster, he had a shaved head but was dressed smartly, looked a little like a debtcollector lol, I fully expected him to be intimidating, however thankfully I never judge a book by its cover.
He was a perfect gentleman, I gave him a bit of a hard time to begin with because of my previous experiences with other kitchen companies. He was very understanding, very patient and very proffessional. He made my wife and myself feel very at ease and put no pressure on us at all. He took the time to design the kitchen for us and although me and Julie kept changing our minds on the layout and the door choice he was very empathetic to our needs. The price he gave us was very fair and we decided to order a Kitchen on the night. Before he left he went through every detail with us again and reassured us on every point we made and answered every question. He left us with his business card, his mobile number, his home phone number and his e-mail address, and told us that if we had any questions we could contact him at any time and he would be willing to advise us should we need any help. He called us on the day of hte Survey visit to make sure the surveyor was there on time, he called us on the delivery day to make sure the kitchen was deliverd on time and as advertised, and he called us on completion day to make sure we were happy with everything. Our kitchen was installed withing 4 weeks and looks beautiful, I would recommend Betta Living to anybody. It has been a very refreshing experience to deal with somebody so proffessional and honest.
I have since passed on his number to three of my friends and relatives and am happy to report that they have received the same high standard of service as I have from the same designer. I am planning on inviting Anthony and his family to our home for dinner next week as a thank you for taking such good care of us and restoring our faith in proffessional callers.

I was looking for a new kitchen and went to Betta Living, they did our bedrooms (Betta Bedrooms) a couple of years ago. The ward robes are great. We have just had a kitchen off them and its really good, there were a couple of problems when the fitter was here, but they did get sorted. Looks like some people have had a bad experience but i would recommend them.
