We have been trying to get satisfaction with this company for nearly two years now. The 3 piece suite we had delivered had a number of issues and we had a series of people half fixing faults with half baked solutions. In the end they stopped communicating with us. I have been back to the store, I have sent recorded letters and have been promised a written response which I have never got. They told us yesterday that our sofas are 'within tolerance' - end of matter - no more communication. This company has the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced. I will now be pursuing a legal course of action.
In 2006 Dec. I purchased a leather suite for my son. Last year a large rip appeared. I contacted the "customer service" department and after a great deal of hastle and attempts to fob me off,a leather expert was sent to assess the damage. He immediately acknowledged that there was a flaw in the leather and noticed the same thing happening in the other sofa. Both cushions were recovered and were fine. Two months ago a very large rip appeared in a cushion and the chroming is rubbing off the leather on large patches of other cushions. I contacted the store to get the name of the managing director as I had no desire to have anything to do with the customer service dept. They would not give me the name. The customer service dept contacted me. The leather is only covered for 1 year. I asked if they were saying it was only fit for purpose for one year and expecting much longer of a suite bought from them was wrong. Just answered that there was no way they would consider doing anything about the problem. I wrote a polite letter to the marketing director with full details and saying that I would be very surprised if he was happy that a product covered in such inferior quality leather was being sold in his store. No reply. Did he get the letter? The head office is in the store and customer service dept I was dealing with. However, the attitude of a customer service dept is a strong indicator of the attitude at the top. Neither I nor any of my customers, friends, or colleagues will ever buy from this company again and I urge you all to follow suit.
we ordered 2 sofas from this company in june this year. they arrived in september and we immediately noticed a scuff mark on one of them. we then noticed innumerable deffects and faults including lumps sticking out of the sides, broken stiching, uneven cushions, un-matching parts on both sofas. we contacted instyle immediately. they sent out three different men on three ocassions who each took inummerable photos of these deffects. it is now the end of october and we have had no satisfaction regarding any course of actiion in-house will take. we are so disgusted that we now want these sofas out of our house!! in-style are dragging their heels about this and their customer care is appalling. to anyone considering purchasing any items with this firm - beware. the item you receive may not resemble the item you see in the showroom! it seems that once they have your order and your money then aftercare does not count. we may now go down the legal road!!
I discovered that my home insurance covered me for legal issues. They took on my case with In Style and had a report done which stated that my corner group had a number of manufacturing faults. They sent a copy to In Style who, within a few weeks, refunded the cost of this suite and uplifted it.For almost a year I fought with them to take this suite back and they just didn't want to know. If it wasn't for my home insurance cover I would probably still have had my faulty £2000 suite. I have since spoken to friends who were thinking of going there to buy furniture and they have gone elsewhere. So it doesn't pay for them to treat their customers unfairly. Anyone having problems with faulty goods should check out their insurance policy as most of them now have legal cover.
