I realise this post was a couple of years ago (and since then Sit-up have been purchased by another company - they WERE owned by Virgin at one point) but have to put the record straight here.

I've shopped with these channels for FOUR years and whilst everything hasn't been brilliant neither has it been anything like YOU described. You obviously didn't read - or look at - terms. Each item auctioned has a P&P of £7.99 (extra for heavier items) and each phone call costs £1.50 from a BT landline (that's why I do most of my shopping via the website)! This info is stated on-screen at all times during the auctions. There have been times when I haven't received items but of COURSE there are rules/regulations in place to get an exchange/refund. This is to ensure that unscrupulous people don't take advantage of the system. With regards to "breaching your account" - I DON'T THINK SO! It is not in their best interests as a company to do something like that. They'd be out of business PDQ - AND in trouble with the police - if they did this to their customers! So either YOU made a mistake or somebody in your own home bid on your behalf. It's all too easy to make a mistake using a laptop with a touch pad. I did it once and ended up with a vacuum cleaner. Mind you - I sold it on rather than returning AND made nice profit!

The only thing I can REALLY agree with in your post is the reference to Customer Service in India. Poor isn't the word for it. Staff are badly trained - that's if they've had any training in the first place - and their command of the English language is ABYSMAL to say the least! These days if I do have a complaint, I contact Sit-up via the websites. It's much easier and I don't get stressed out with frustration!
