I have a family member who has a contract with them, after being promised number 1 spot for the entire county on a single competitive phrase.
Although for the last 12 months they have been referringto a domain that no longer exists!!!
Despite the fact that they take a worse approach to 'search engineering' than any bedroom warrior outfit I have had the misfortune to work with.
I intend to notify the office of fair trading, I have sent a strongly worded complaint to them - I would have advised the family member dod NOT sign up in the first place.
Being fair and reasonable, this was less than 24 hours ago, so I will wait a little longer for a reply.
Now that the family member has an agreementwith them on the domain that no longer directs to anything, I asked them nearly two months ago to transfer the link over to the new website at least.
God knows why they think they need ftp passwords for this - but even having set up an ftp account so I can verify this on my own server, they have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING since.
How can they charge for serving a domain that has no content?
There are lots of posts here that mention keywords for specified districts - long tail keywords of 3 or more words relating to a very closed area often requires little or no optimisation to rank.
If you are not ranking for 'wine merchant malvern'(example only)changing your page title to that and dropping that term into the content, would probably do that for you instantly!
Payroll, rather than just giving a personal view of experience with a company, likes to berate the poster as well I noticed in my experience. Its okay for him/her to give a view, but not for anyone giving a negative towards a company.
For future reference payroll, give your views, fine. But cut out the personal rants or it takes away the purpose of your post. People can make up their own minds about a poster, they dont need your crass comments xxxxxx

I have chosen this platform to put some facts in defense of First Search Consultancy because they helped me get good business through my website. First Search Consultancy had promised to rank my site on top pages of Google with seven keywords and I am very happy with their services as they ranked my website with 5 keywords on the first page of Google.
All I can say about First Search Consultancy is that it is a good search engine ranking company and I am very happy with the services.
First Search Consultancy is a good SEO service provider company. I can say this because website was not ranking in Google results, but after the site was search engineered by First Search Consultancy, it started ranking in top 10 results with most of the keywords. I am posting this comment because I am immensely satisfied and happy with their services.
First Search Consultancy are not a good company. I signed up two of my websites about 10 weeks apart. On both websites, they keyword stuffed in the description and keyword sections of meta tags. This is frowned upon by search engines. After many phone calls, emails and second, third, fourth, fifth chances...I eventually gave up and learned how to optimise my own sites.
I sent a registered letter to FSC to refuse them access to my credit card for renewing my contract. I contacted my credit card company to inform them that FSC was under no circumstances to draw funds from my account.
My contract for my first website ended in October 2009. The second site is due to expire shortly. FSC claim to destroy ftp details and passwords after initial optimisation. This doesn't make sense if they also claim to update your website regularly. They never did update my websites after the initial optimisation, but they did log into my first website without my consent and delete all optimisation. All the optimisation work was my own as I had removed the shabby work FSC had completed. They not only took my money and ruined my websites, but they had the cheek to illegally remove my own optimisation work and say nothing about it. I just found out today. Luckily I had a back up from September which I was able to utilise and the second website was untouched because the contract is still in place. I have changed the passwords on all my sites so good luck to FSC. I will let everyone know about their illegal/unprofessional activity. I can also confirm that they cold called me and claimed to be Google. First time I learned any different was when they took the money and I received the contract.
I was just searching for a good SEO company and came across First Search Consultancy. As most of us do, before hiring them to promote my website, I did some research to know more about them. After all its all about my business and its promotion. While going through all the comments, I was just wondering why none of us tried to find out about the results they are generating. To get a more clear picture, I looked at some of their past work and was amazed to see that most of the sites listed in their profile are ranking pretty well with the search phrases. Just though to share my views about the company because in my opinion, they are doing fairly good job for the sites. I think I should give it a thought and test them to promote my website. Will come back with my experience. Keep watching the space.
I am posting in their defence after I have just read the reviews by "so called" customers on some sites and these on here, I have been a customer of theirs for 2 years now and I can 100% vouch for first search consultancy and have and will continue to recommend their services, I bought a website package off them on a sales call and thought initially I had made a big big mistake after a rival web SEO firm called me and convinced me I had, I called and spoke with them almost immediately and allowed them time to try to do what I had bought, I am so glad I did as it has paid off significantly - loads of people complement my site and cannot believe the price I paid for it when I tell them, I have referred my brother and my sisters company and 5 of my business associates to them to use their services and I check regularly and each one is happy. For the people on here that jump all over the postings that are good this is for you - No I don’t work for them, no they haven’t asked me to put this and no I dont want you to call me and get into a debate because your bored etc- so I am not revealing my website address- I take many calls passed over to me by first search sales staff to verify their claims to customers they are dealing with and I have written a testimonial on their website to prove this - they are a decent firm and have some excellent staff working their. why have I written this ???- well I have just had a ANOTHER sales call offering me higher search engines rankings (clearly she did not check my results as I am top) and after I told her who I am with she ranted on about have you seen their reputation on the net - I replied some - and she directed me to gimp !!! OMG !!! What a load of absolute rubbish !!! The girl on the other end of the phone admitted to me that she and other companies that she knows in the same market all post bad press about each others companies to win business off them ! Extremely un-ethical but if you actually read the posts - first search have even written on their not to post but to get in touch and they have even said on the forums that these are not genuine customers !!! shocking ! first search are a large company and every large firm does have its share of un-happy customers but do you really think the ones posting are genuine - honestly if you complain about your gas bill or your council tax is wrong do you straightaway jump on the internet and bad-mouth the gas firm or the council- NO of course you do not because you do not have the time to and you are busy getting on with your life - PEOPLE DO NOT BELIEVE THE POSTINGS - this is from the horses mouth ! I am a CUSTOMER and I am happy - I get new business leads coming through (as well as my fair share of spam - which cant be helped Im told) and I am up there in the results - £300 a year I pay !!!!! cheaper than my phone book advert I pay for each year and it delivers now more results !
Not in the habit of putting comments on forums, but First Search Consultancy have really got my back up and to read somebody trying to defend them is sickening. This company take your money and do not provide the service they sold, I got stung for £345 my advice to anyone is stay well clear, if it sounds to go good to be true then it is normally a con and that is just what First Search Consultancy are. For anyone else ripped off by these people I would contact RBS Worldpay who the email payment receipt is from, reading their site it appears they only provide online services and not telephone payments which is what FSC take. If we can't get a refund from these people maybe we can stop them ripping off other small players.
My experience of First Search Consultancy is indeed my own - but here is the first line of an email they sent to me just in the last few weeks, following on from their "Hi, we're from Google call":-
"Just so you know First Search Consultancy will guarantee your website is listed on page 1 of Google for up to 7 phrases in your local area (****) in the natural listings on the left hand side for a full 12 months."
All this for just £250 VAT!! Even though Google themselves state that no-one can guarantee rankings. What a bargain...

First Search Consultancy... These are the people who open the cold call with "Hi, I'm calling from Google" - but whose management deny they say that? Hmmm. I can say this, legally, because I have personally received literally dozens of calls, doing exactly that. millay77, considering you weren't going to bother posting at all, it seems odd your post was at 8.11AM, as if actually, it was the very first thing you did. So exactly what is your business name, just so we can check your first page ranking under your stated term 'wedding cakes somerset' in Google? (I couldn't see any sites engineered by First Search Consultancy but I am sure that's coincidental). I don't think any sane person should give their hard-earned money to a company who have been going just one year, and who have yet to file any accounts (see their record on the Companies House website). Go to one of the many tried and tested guys, who have been around at least 5-10 years, if you want to get some real SEO work done. If someone is good at this stuff they will be inundated with business, and definitely WON'T be cold-calling, least of all claiming to be "from Google".
in all honesty i was not going to comment on first search i could not be bothered - they asked me if i would put a good comment on about them as i am a happy customer - having read some of the comments on here off 3 people 2 dont seem to even be with them i thought i would write in their defence. i received a call from a guy who claimed to get higher rankings in google and search engines which is a call i often get - what got me was he was not pushy at all, some of the ones in the past are very bad and i dont like to be forced into something but anyway he showed me current clients and how they were listed then he showed me a tracking system from one of their current clients as well and i decided after i made him email me i would try it £345 i paid. I then got emails from them asking for some password which i did not understand so i called them (waited about 2 mins) i asked what it was and it was the site builder control panel ????? my son did this but i had it sent to me by first search from a link - i forwarded it on to their email address, i then got an email back saying i am now ready to go live on the search engines - i checked and checked and was not there after about a week, so i called up and they showed me it had not been read by the search engines yet but showed me the work was there, following week again i looked at wedding cakes somerset and hey presto i was there - i am really happy, really really happy, i was dealt with professionally, they were helpfull and i got what i bought - every company gets bad re-views but you dont really get to hear the good - so here it is first search i have put my comment on for you and i have agreed to go on your website as a testimonial - worth every penny :)
