Earlier this year I was rushed into placing an advertisement in a child safety booklet and was horrified to find that I was the only advertiser in the booklet and that they had given me a full-page ad at a cost over £2000.
Now they are claiming I placed another ad in a road safety booklet, which again turns out to be a full page and they want to charge me over £3000 for the same copy.
I am refraining from paying, as I have no recollection of this, and have asked them to send me a transcript of the phone conversation, as there is nothing in writing. They claim they do everything over the phone to save on overheads.

hi

this is a massive operation my company has been hit for thousands. dont pay! most of the time the finacial companies are the same people.

there are many based in manchester and they share info with each other. if you pay one they add you details to a sucker list and then they all contact you saying the same stuff ad for a charity etc and you agreed now you must pay.

check out the dti website under bogus charity adverts, on common ways these companies operate

i have been contacted by a group call the advertising protection agency who claim they can get rid of these people for £8 a month.
i am a little wary so have trading standards looking in to them.
if they turn out to be genuine i will add a note to the blagger, i have already listed them with a neutral score which i will update asap
if any one else has heard of or used this group please let us know.

they key with all of these dodgy advertising agencies is do not enter into any converstion with them as they will catch you out on tape appearing to say yes to something.

Costello Limited (based in Manchester) along with a number of other company alias' (All based in and around Manchester) have been hounding one of our teams for several months now about an advert that we supposedly agreed to. When I asked them to prove it they played a recording of a colleague vaguely agreeing to seeing information. When you see the advert that was provided it is obvious that a child could've taken the info from our website and added it into a booklet which has absolutely nothing to do with that part of our business. I'm now receiving threatening letters from Liberate Financial Services including threatening doorstep calls. How do I get rid of them and stop them from wasting our time??

I have called them to which they say it wasn't me who agreed and then they proceed to be quite rude and hang up on me.
