I too have just recieved an invoice today for an advert that we apparently agreed to in October 2009. We are a registered charity and are constantly getting these invoices and im sick of being bullied down the phone! We are not paying - simple as. All of our details are totally incorrect, just seemed like they have picked us from thin air!
I too have just recieved an invoice out of the blue for £199. I have been given an invoice number but no reference. I have been having trouble with companies like this for over 3 years and it is usually the smae man who calls each time. He is very pally until you say "No" then he gets very nasty.
They have sent this mail to my old address of which I have not lived for 1 year and 3 months. They have also included my old home phone number. Looks like someone is getting our addresses out of an old yellow pages. These companies will not take you to court. They are saying this to scare you to pay up. These people do NOT want to go to court as they would be ripped to shreads by their illigal ways of doing business. My advice is to ask for proof of contract, proof of distribution etc but be very careful when talking to them on the phone. They could doctor the phonecalls to make it seem like you are wanting these fake adverts. When they call keep asking them for details (just interupt them if you have too) Get there name, company name, company address, phone number, reg company number etc. If they ask why tell them "Because I would like to know" They will usually hang up on you at this point.
Good luck everyone
Thank you so much for this information. I too have been harrassed and verbally bullied by this "outfit". As I work for a charity, I have asked them for details of a contract, details of satisfied customers, copy details of the "advert" and a full list of where the ad will be going...all I got was a very rude young man shouting down the phone at me. I will not contact Machester Trading Standards Office. I feel a lot better-thank you
Gerry
i too have been sent an invoice requesting money for something i have not requested apparentley for a business to business hand book. this is only one of many companies that phone and say the same thing. I have reported one company to trading standards as they were being very harrassing towards me.
i wrote and called over and over agin reinforcing that we did not authorise and will not pay. and the final letter was very strogly worded. i have laso reported them to TS who are investigating
then another REMINDER so i rang again expecting to get the usuall answer phone and i got a person - was very firm and th person anme derek calimed to have spoken to me on Saterday (he did not) and said it was all aa miss understanding and the invoice has be cancelled
amazing what a little smooping for the autrhorities can do
they sent an invoice out of the blue, for £199 for and advert we have not agreed to now thay are sending me reminders and threat that tey will pass to the legal dept..
i have done some investigations and have found that this address is not a business address but a residential and acording to the Manch Labour web site a local counceller lives there (i wonder if he knows someone is using his address for this sort of thing)
would like to know if anyone elese had had anything to do with them any info would be much appreciated
