First thing id like to say is if your thinking about using Autotek electronics.... Dont !!! I sent them my water damaged ECU so they could take the info of it and put it on a reconditioned ECU. When the garage doing my repairs received the "new" ECU they said it was in worse condition than the original. Also they had marked the original and the the "new" ECU had been wire brushed where the markings were. This obviously made it look like it was the one i had sent them which was damaged beyond repair.
I sent it back with a letter asking for a refund and explaining why. This service cost me £350 and they still have it plus my ECU. Because they had my ECU i had to use ford to download my immobilisers info, costing me another £90. Also i had to buy another £275 ECU and have been without my car for 6 weeks through autotek.
My position at the moment is i have wrote to autotek twice and rang there sales line with no joy. The sales line is basically a barely able to speak Polish woman with no info but "write to credit control". Who by the way ignore your letters. Also there technical helpline is a premium rate £1.50 a minute waste of time talking to an idiot. I did everything by the book, recorded delivery of the return, letters recorded delivery, was polite, all within the returns policy and they have just ignored me.
I have contacted visa who do a charge back if you have receipt proving you returned the faulty product and its within 120 days of payment. This is only if you paid with a visa debit/credit card. However even if visa do refund me i am not going to let this drop. This company is a disgrace and should not be trading.
Iv contacted trading standards Portsmouth and am wanting to take this all the way to legal procedures. I wish i had done my research before using autotek but will learn from this experience. If your lucky enough to be reading this before handing over your money well done for having the sense to check them out first. If your in my position fight for your rights and don't let them get away with it.
I believe they have recently changed their address to Unit 110, 89 Commercial Road, Bournemouth Dorset BH2 5RR. Don't know if this is a regular thing.
I am in the car trade and when my own car had a problem with the gearbox ECU I bought one from Autotek Electronics, Unit 11, Wessex Trade Centre, Ringwood Road, Poole, Dorset BH12 3PQ. http://www.autotekelectronics.com
The ECU wasn't in the condition described and on top of that was faulty.
When we plugged it in to my BMW, it came up with a load of fault codes already in the ECU.
Despite myself and the Specialist Gearbox Workshop that was rebuilding my gearbox sending letters along with the returned ECU, they didn't want to refund my money.
They stated that I returned the ECU outside of their returns policy schedule.
I bought the ECU in May 2011. The payment for it amounted to £364.75 and left my bank account on 31st May 2011. I returned the ECU to them on 17th August 2011.
Although this may be the case, the way they have treated me is unfair as the ECU was with a third party garage rebuilding the gearbox and due to the enormity of the job that they were doing for me I had difficulty getting the ECU back from them with a list of the problems within Autoteks timeframe so that I could send a comprehensive account of why I wanted a refund.
Irrespective of the timeframe the ECU sold to me was faulty upon receipt.
Consequently they were reluctant to return my ECU and now that they have I have a faulty ECU that I have to either pay to have repaired and then try to re-sell, which isn't going to be easy as it is quite a specialised item or face losing my £365.00.
Do not use this company.
They sell faulty goods and the only person in the company you will be able to speak to should you have problems is a salesperson with extremely limited scope.
I have since Googled this company and come across the ‘can you trust them’ web-site with 5 other unresolved disputes against them.
If I can’t get any resolution to my complaints with them (being a garage owner) I don’t think the general public will have any hope at all.
It is my fault I should reviewd blagger before deal with such company. My case similar to most of the reviewer.
I sent my ECU for my 523 BMW to them for digonstaic and repair and they said to me it is compeletly damged (as most of the reviewr). and they recommend to replace it and I agree. When they ship the new ECU to me. I test with approved BMW serives provider and did not show anything, in the same time we test another unit from different car and show all my car detail (except the car cannot started due car security should have same code).
When I sent back the item to them they took more than 2 weeks to respond to me taht we can not repair it we transfer your paper to criedt control department; then I wait more than 3 weeks then I call them again and email them. They respond to me my car have excess voltage which damage the new ECU (While when test it does not show anything and other one from another car show all the car details) and this is not covered in the warrenty and we cannot refund you.
Now I knew why they took more than 45 days after I pay; because I can not reclaim from Paypal.
Becarful with this company they are not onest.
Thank you for spending your time reading this review.
I have a faulty ECU for my Honda Prelude. I live closeby and took it to them personally. They "tested" it and told me it was completely dead and could repair it for a total of £249.99 (including the test charge). 3 days later I go and pick up my "repaired" ECU only to try it in my car and find out that it is no diffrerent what so ever. I take it back the following day, they re-test it and say it's all fine and as a precaution they replaced the "ignition amplifier output stage" (I'm not thick, this is not an electrical component. It does not even exist). I asked them to prove to me thet they have carried out any work at all and I'm told, "The proof is right there" (as he points to the invoice). I then ask him to show me the old PCB that he replaced the first time or even just the component that he apparently replaced 20 minutes ago and he refuses. We got into a heated arguement before he just walked out the office refusing to deal with me anymore.
All their phone numbers go to the same building. I have been there myself and spoken to the only english person I found that worked there (she's only a student on a short term job and none the wiser to what's going on). Everything is dealt with in the building. I was stood right there in reception and I could still not talk to anyone regarding accounts. They guy I dealt with lied to me continuously, kept going back on his word and I kept catching him out. He got really nervous, started shaking and kept laughing it off before eventually running away from me. I told him I would be involving trading standards on this matter and I am doing so. In the mean time if anyone here with ongoing problems with them ever decides to make the journey to go see them in person please let me know and I will turn up at the same time to kick off too. My email is: deviousdavebrock@hotmail.com
Never ever deal with them unless you want to just throw your money away and not see it again.
Paid out over 200 pounds for and ABS pump that never worked. Going down the small claims route but others have tried and not got any money back even when they have won so I ask myself what is the point? This is now becoming a matter of pride and honour and I just want to see this bunch of con artists get theirs. I have been in touch with BBC Watchdog to see if they are interested. We shall see this should be right up their street.
Never ever trust this company with your ecu or anything else for that matter. I paid them £400.00 to repair mine and my van never ran again on it,even after i sent it back to be checked. In the end i brought a second hand ecu for £80.00 and my van runs fine. I won a county court case against them for the repair cost of the ecu and extra garage bills incured by me because of shoddy repair.Over a year later i have not been paid and have now instructed bailiffs to collect for me. Be warned

1-10-2008 After searching on the Internet for a company to have my Audi A4 electronic gearbox unit reconditioned, sent it to Autotek.
9-10-2008 I’ve received a report and quotation about the repair, paid 410£.
2-11-2008 I’ve received and tested the unit, which was faulty (!?). This unit had less capability than the faulty one I’ve sent in the first place!Sent back non-working unit to Autotek.
26-11-2008 I’ve received as said in Autotek e-mail "new replacement/New PCB part", still not working.
30-11-2008 I’ve sent for a 3rd time non-working unit to Autotek.
23-12-2008 I’ve sent email to Autotek as they didn't replied about this matter or sent the unit back. Also told Autotek that I was expecting a working unit or a refund, as I was not willing to waste more time and money. No reply to this day whatsoever. I’ve called Autotek and got information that the unit was sent again.
14-1-2009 I’ve tested the unit and the unit still doesn’t work as it should. No outputs were given from the unit!!!
12-2-2008 I had my car waiting for this unit for 3 months, so I’ve bought a new unit from an Audi dealer and the car is on the street again.
24-2-2008 I’ve sent the unit back and a complaint to the “complaints” department and not an answer so far, my e-mails get ignored and the 410£ are on Autotek’s side.
If Autotek were a serious company, they should have suggested that the repair was too expensive or unworthy and I would buy a new part from Audi in the first place.
Now it’s your turn! Be careful when making business with www.autotekelectronics.co.uk / www.autotekelectronics.com
This company supplied me a ABS control unit for a Nissan which was faulty, sent the unit back for refund, still waiting for refund (£315.00), no responce back from them, tried to ring accounts and you have to send them a letter, you cannot speak to anyone.... NEVER EVER known this from any company before... I would not recomend this company to anyone.... It is now left with our VISA Company

I have had horrendous dealings with this company since October '08 with a Throttle Body for a Ford Mondeo(£69 incl. post), which when fitted worked fine until the car was driven & the revs shot up to 3-4k when you put your foot on the clutch to change gear. when the car sat idle it was fine! Put the original part back on & no probs! Sent back to Autotek for a refund & was told I had to wait 30days for an answer. Then eventually was told that an independant company had tested the part & was found to be ok, but not seen a copy of this report - strange!! Since then (Dec 10 '08) I'm still waiting for my part to be returned! As with the above complaintant, only sales are contactable with credit control only accepting letters! THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE LEFT WELL ALONE! I found them through Google so I'm contacting them.
