I've got a great idea for making money and there's very little fallout except a few irate customers but it should make millions of pounds.

Think of something for which you offer an annual service contract. Let's say BOILER maintenance.

Obviously some people will make a claim but probably not as many as you think so shall we say as many as 4 out of 10 do require a callout at some stage during the term of the contract.

Some you may convince are not covered by the terms of the contract and the others you simply give the runaround until they give up and go elsewhere. But there will always be one who will get to the stage of instigating legal proceedings so you nip it in the bud and refund their premiums.

So that's 9 out 10 premiums pocketed all for the cost of offering a 24 hr phone line and everybody's happy, well almost; I certainly will be.

Now what shall we call our new Company? How about DIAL A ROD?

Doesn't really matter there's plenty out there to chose from :(

BLAGGERS! If I was allowed I would use stronger language but the best I can do is to ensure others do not get caught by this ROGUE company.Just search the name and you will find a history of broken promises. For me it was annual boiler cover but the first sign of any problem and they give you the runaround until you get the message and get fedup and go elsewhere. Often because it was an emergency in the first place.

I asked Dial a Rod to unblock a sink in my bathroom. They took my credit card details over the phone, and gave me their hourly rate.

They did manage to unblock the sink, but they took 3 hours to do it and charged me £498.31 and charge me for car parking and congestion charge (neither of which I was told about in advance). They even charged me VAT on the parking and congestion charge. I have confrimed with HMRC that you are not allowed to charge VAT on the congestion charge.

I emailed them 3 times and have called them 5 times. I have been told the only person I can speak to is the manager Charlotte Edney, who has mysteriously never been in the office when I called and has never returned my calls.

I feel I have been horrifically over charged and no one from the company is prepared to even speak to me. I would absolutely never ever use this company again and strongly urge others not to do so.

Complete blaggers. Called out for a simple blocked drain. Called these jokers by mistake instead of DynoRod.
Quoted £45-£55 on phone to unblock the drain. The engineer arrives and has me running upstairs and downstairs turning taps on/off. Then says 'It's blocked solid'. Yes that is why I have called you out! He then says he is placing a camera down to find the blockage (never mentions that it is CCTV Footage). I admit by now doubts were beginning to creep in. Then he starts showing me all these supposed cracks in my underground pipes (I haven't a clue what I'm looking at). He then jet washed the drain out (the usual procedure at last) and charges me £145.00!!! He refuses to accept a cheque also. When I phone Head Office to complain, they say the engineer offered me a package deal of surveillance of my pipes. Something I never even asked for. I contacted Trading Standards who were useless pretty much, they blame the customer for paying upfront. A week later I received an invoice for £5000 to carry out repairs on my underground pipes.
Just to people be careful and always remember you can just tell them to leave your property, if things don't ring right. Again another lesson learnt by being a homeowner.
