| La Fitness | I need to cancel my membership due to illness - recovering from meningitis. I went in to the gym initially yesterday (28th July 2011) to have a discussion with someone. They handed me a small square of paper saying "Membership Services" and a telephone number, saying I had to call them to cancel! Anyway, I spoke to Catherine Rushby yesterday and explained my situation and that I had a doctor's note. She said that I should email the note to her and I had to give a month's notice and that my last payment would be on 29th July 2011. I have emailed her twice with the note to ensure my month's notice gets activated but no acknowledgment or reply. I don't want them to start saying they never received my emails etc as I will be cancelling my direct debit today. I am concerned as I can see the various posts in forums about them not processing cancellations and then sending debt collection letters in order to collect monies they believe to be unpaid :/ I put read receipts on the emails but my emails do not appear to be being read? Has anyone else had problems with getting responses to emails? Can they say "we never received your email" and therefore deny knowledge I have given the required notice? |
